Yes, but I have to be true to my Maryland roots and say that I actually prefer crabs. Steamed in old bay and beer. Lobster’s got nothin’ on that.

  • QOTD: I love lobster. LOVE IT. Even when the person at the table with me grabs its head and makes it talk. Even then.

    *Especially* good with Sancerre. Mmm.

QOTD: I like Lobster, but agree with other posters that Dungeness Crab is king.

Gewurztraminer goes well with Asian food, no doubt, but what about foods from Alsace? What French/German Foods go with Gewurz?

QOTD: Yes. I think that the best way to have lobster is cold, as part of a light dish or salad. A nice lobster salad with avocado and a good lemon vinaigrette… or even better: lobster rolls from Mary’s Fish Camp in NYC. Can’t beat them.

Never had Gewurtz with lobster, always went with a crisp Sancerre or sometimes even champagne… will definitely have to try the combo soon.

  • LMoC

QOTD: Never tried it; probably never will. Shomer f*ckin Kosher, dude!

Lobster, drawn butter, a touch of lemon and a good gewurtz…or dungeness crab works too, oh yeah.

  • shave ice with red beans and mung beans(small green bean looking things)… usually we add brown sugar syrup on top as well… some people even add condense milk to the whole thing. quite tasty and refreshing for the hot tropics of taiwan. There are over 40 types of toppings that can go on top of the shave ice, including things like chinese jelly things, pearly looking things, taro, assortment of fruits like mangos and strawberries… i’m sure you can find it in china town as well….

love the show… love the gurverts as well!

    Dude, Gary

I was never the guy to get caught up on the whole O.C./Gossip Girl train, but then Blake Lively – el babe amongst babes – had to show up. So of course I had to watch it.
I balance it out with a little 30 Rock and The Office, so that I stay hardcore. Cause as we all know: you’re not hardcore, unless you live hardcore.

QOTD: Find me a man who doesn’t like lobster, and I’ll find you a priest who does Hannibal Lecter impressions at the pulpit.

And here’s your cholersterol problem G-Man

QOTD: Ofcourse, its one of those foods that’s still a treat everytime. I remember a time when you couldn’t find sushi in every supermarket, when some foods were strictly special time foods. To me lobster still holds that mystique and I love it like that.

QotD: I have always received very adverse reactions to shellfish in the past. So I’m afraid to try lobster, in all honesty.

  • Benji

    QOTD: Love lobster.

Rarely get it when dining out, but when it is featured within a dish or is in the special…I almost always go for it. Lobster bisque is also one of my favs.

Like it in casual lunch preparations too. This past summer I had the lobster salad sandwich from Cosi like 20 times (my friend works there). I loved that sandwich, until I found out there’s over 40 grams of fat in it!! I still feel guilty.

QOTD: I dig on some lobster, but only when I travel somewhere I can see the ocean. Rule to live by. Not that they aren’t fresh, I mean, I have seen those live little sucks get dropped in the boiling pot-o-death, I just don’t think North Texas folk are really good at making seafood. Now there are exceptions, but I am not dropping “Market Price” of 2 Bills on lobster tail. I don’t like it that much. Steak Baby, good ol’ American red meat is where it’s AT in Texas!

  • I fiend lobster.

The strange dessert is called KOHRI AZUKI- Ice (with) Little Beans- in Japan. Your friend, guessing from name, is probably not Japanese but a lot of these things are common amongst the Asian countries.

    BTW, I fiend lobster.

QOTD: having spent 4 years in college on the coast of Maine, I am a HUGE lobster guy. in fact, I’ll be enjoying some lobster Friday night, and plan on calling the restaurant immediately to see if they have any Gewurtz on the wine list…

  • CW

Gary you’re out-of-the-office and probably won’t see this note, but if you do, say it with me
Schpayt-lez-uh Sch like Franz Schubert, oh wait a sports reference, Formula 1’s Schumacher ? Maybe that is too Euro. Payt rhymes with late. lez like the Isle of Lesbos 😉 the uh sound like uh-yeah ! but the uh tapers off. This german version is from Baden, maybe on the back of the bottle it said Trocken, maybe or Halbtrocken, which would explain the ‘psych’.

We’ve really been enjoying gewurtz paired with spicy foods — love the hot stuff, and gewurtz is a dream with Asian heat in particular.

QOTD: I do like lobster, although its a rare treat. There’s a local wine bar/restaurant that makes a killer mac & cheese with big chunks of lobster (and crispy fried onions on top). Yum. I’ll be there Saturday with some Seattle Vayniacs. Maybe I’ll try a glass of gewurtz with it. 🙂

OTD: Lobster. Not all that excited about it. Nice enough, but I don’t go out of my way for it.

  • Kim

Never would have put a Gewurztraminer with Lobster but now I must! Great Show 🙂
