QOTD: could eat it all day, but who can afford that! But it must be paired with Veuve Cliquot! Yummy!!!

GARY!!!! YAY FOR NEW YORK STATE WINES!! Dr Frank’s came to my wine tasting club last month and brought SEVENTEEN wines for us to taste! It was a great Friday night with my friends tasting and snacking and enjoying the pleasure that is wine. I liked most of what Dr Frank liked to offer, and I loved their Gewutz. I was a little dissapointed that they’re a little too proud of their wine when it comes to price… but we got to try 17 wines for $8 so we had a good time anyway! (I have to admit, I got a little hammered. But I wasnt driving so no one cared)

Oh, and Gewutz rocks! NY ones are generally pretty great! I still say you should do a show on NY Rieslings, cause THEY rock!

QOTD: I only eat lobster in a Lobster Bisque from The Warfside restaurant on the Jersey shore, I dont know what it is, but it’s the only place I’ve ever eaten seafood and liked it.

  • Nice! I need to step up my Gewurtz game… I’ve been eating a lot of Thai food lately and should give it a shot with some good Wurtz. I would also like to try with lobster. The last lobster I had was paired with a bottle of 2003 Rieussec and was pretty good but I would have liked to have seen some more years on the Sauternes.

What are your thoughts on expensive, OLD bottles being stored standing up in a room kept at 70 degrees and in daytime are in direct sunlight? I recently was shopping at a well known wine store (who I will refrain from naming) in Hollywood and was very suprised. I would be furious if I threw down 2-500 bones on a bottle and it was corked beyond belief or just plain bad. The cashier at the shop had no explanation for the storage conditions except “If it’s bad you can just return it.” That attitude doesn’t do a whole lot for me. Thoughts?

Anyways, keep up the great work!

What’s the corking fee at Red Lobster? Anyone?

Long story short… when I got good grade my pops wasn’t cool with straight up paying me for them so we got to go to our choice of restaurant and order what we wanted… I went straight to the top, a little place called the ‘aquarium’ & hit him up for huge $60 tails at the age of eight… too bad for him i was a straight A student and this routine repeated itself twice a year every year until college… yeah, i was a punk, but who wasn’t… true story.

Thanks for the episode for us gewurz lovers. My experience is that the Anderson Valley has been pumping out some really good gewurzs for a long time. My favorites are Navarro and Lazy Creek; they consistantly bring the thunder. Hope you’ll have a chance to try them. Cheers!

& cheap honey is nasty. Get some raw-unfiltered-unheated Tupelo honey. It has a buttery flavor & the stuff does not crystallize.

Also love how you keep mixing it up on the show. One of your best one’s yet – kickin’ it oldschool.

Gewürztraminer is one of my all time favourite whites, and Alsace is my all time favorite French area, needless to say I have drank plenty of these and love them all, dry, sweet, thick, thin, french, worldly.

QOTD – Yeah, too right. I don’t have it nearly enough, not that rich unfortunately, but love it when I do.
