Great show. Just came from wine class and you won’t believe what we were tasting tonight. Sancerre! great insight and this new guy is all over it. I’ve put the whole class on to the site, so you should be getting some ya-who Canadians from Vancouver chiming in every once in awhile.

Awesome show, Gary! I get a kick out of seeing Sir Gary, and if you can ever hone your English accent a bit to sound a bit Welsh, or proper, then it will be an episode for the ages. (not that it isn’t already, you know.) Anyway, I eagerly await my first taste of Sancerre. Thanks.

QOTD: I watch the show because Gary is excited about wine, and no one else where I live seems to get this excited about wine, except the great people at my favorite wine shop in Memphis, Great Wines and Spirits. Keep it up, Gary, and thanks for all you do for us Vayniacs.

    Very funny.

I don’t think I like this guys. Giving dirt on Gary V like that!
I would like to see a show with this guy and the real Gary. I sure the conversation would be interesting…

Why do I watch the show? Good question! I don’t even like wine!!! I just think because it’s addictive and entertaining. Whenever I’m bored I’ll pop onto tv.winelibrary.com and watch another episode. I love that there’s a new one everyday!

SIR GARY VAYNERCHUK!! GREAT cameo. I’m glad he found time in his busy, stuck-up, pretentious schedule to fill in for BIG G. today.

QOTD: YES, thanks to the fantastically diverse by-the-glass wine list put together by the master sommelier at my former wine bar and bistro job, I have had ONE Pinot Noir from Sancerre. Gerard & Peiere Morin 2004 Sancerre Pinot Noir– VERY acidic, tart dusty cherry with an orange peel-like acidity and lighter body that made it only accessible when paired with certain foods. SORRY, but I need a little more body and perhaps fruit to tame the acidity of this particular wine.

  • Now there’s a spooky coincidence. I met Sylvain Bailly at the Loire wine fair in February, and just this Tuesday the Bubble Brothers tasting panel got together to try both his Sancerre and his Quincy, along with a couple of Touraine Sauvignons from Guy Allion. We don’t really agree with you about the Sancerre being New World-y. Perhaps M. Bailly tops up his US export bottles with elderflower cordial. We’re going to be ordering from him anyway.

  • Seriously speaking, I have got very excited as well with the video.
Moreover, it is the most exciting and joyful tv programme I have seen via the internet.
I can feel the great effort and your passion lying under the physical part of the episode.
It is no exaggeration to say that I think you really rule, Sir.

Long life the king, or queen…

    Sincerely yours:Fred, Junior, Liu

Sir GV reminds me of Peter Sellers in some obscure way. The dry monotone and quiet delivery like he was describing Tiger Woods getting ready to putt for the US Open could also be used for a hypnosis soundtrack. The beautiful background of the “Moonlight Sonata” was a little distracting from the presentation and the cocktail lounge lighting was making us drowsy. Sir Gary needs a paisley bowtie. A large pull down map of France and a 4 foot long wooden and rubber tipped pointer would be a nice prop or a ridiculously large globe. A wall of leather bound books about wine as a background. I subscribe to Decanter and have great respect for Jancis Robinson who is a tireless Master of Wine and how can we forget to mention Michael Broadbent whose nephew works with the Yanks stateside as a wine importer. If it were not for the British and Dutch both Bordeaux and Port would not have developed a market for fine wines which led to Thomas Jefferson and the ungrateful revolution while drinking Haut Bryon!

I once created a wine list for a seafood restaurant so I put many classic white wines on the menu.
This was in the 1980’s and Sir Vaynerchuk hadn’t revealed the joys of Sancerre yet. I put a nice Sancerre on the menu along with a Muscadet Sevre et Maine. The Chablis and Montrachets were much more popular than the Sauvignon Blancs which also included Chateau Millet from Bordeaux. Now SB is all the rage thanks to those rowdy upstart Kiwis. Earlier episodes also extolled the virtues of Pouilly Fume (La Doucette) and that didn’t sell well either. So what did those silly Americans buy? Beringer Chardonnay and Robert Mondavi Fume Blanc. Of course they didn’t realize that it was Sauvignon Blanc in disguise. Chalk one up to marketing.

This is the week of dread where our Sons of Washington play your New Jersey Jets. I hope we don’t use the same defensive strategy that was so successful against the New England Revolutionaries…

    Hey t_moderne nice list.

QOTD: Because GV is the best at describing wine in terms we all get. My favorite to date is, “the inside of a yellow whiffle ball bat”. That is the description I use when telling others why they should watch WLTV. It is a scent that I do remember, but am unlikely to ever actually find in a wine . . . until last night. On a recent restocking trip to my favorite wine shop, I also grabbed some wines I haven’t seen before, as I usually do. To my great surprise and pleasure, a Spanish white that I grabbed had a great nose of almond, melons, banana, and “the inside of a yellow whiffle ball bat”. I couldn’t be happier, and I probably would not have picked that up if GV hadn’t pointed it out previously.

Sir Gary, I HAVE in fact had red Sancerre and it was a wonderful experience.

QOTD: Gary and I had this conversation a few days ago, I watch the show because Gary does exactly what I think should be done with wine. He breaks down the superficial boundaries that Sir Gary personifies. Wine is all about sharing experience, fun and enjoyment with family and friends. And even when you’re on your own it’s about enjoying something and seeing what you smell and taste in it.

Are you channeling Glenn Gould or what? First the Thunder Chair and now the SGV character. Perhaps there is some strange cosmic connection. Do you have chronic high blood pressure? Soak your tongue in warm water before tasting? Find inspiration in gloomy days?

Nice showing of a hypothetical blend of Neil Martin and Bruce Snaderson, British pomp with a twist of dry seriousness, I can’t get enough, I felt like strangling you after 3 minutes. That’s why I watch the GV, somehow the annoying shouting with interjections of humor, wit, and honesty keep me focused for at least 6 minutes, that’s a 100% improvement over today’s episode.
