Excellent episode. QOTD: Probably none, no one in my family drinks wine so I don’t bother. Right now though i’m enjoying the ’05 Pierre Amadieu Vacqueyras La Grangeliere. Best QPR ever! It’s amazing with France being the greatest wine growing country that there would be any good values there. Especially A region like the Rhone which produces arguably the best wine in the world. Anyone know if a regular Riesling is best or a kabinett?

  • vivaitalia

    For turkey I mean! lol

I was going to drink Tensley Colson Canyon 2005 Syrah but my girl doesn’t like it. I do but what can you do? So maybe a zin. I’ve got a couple bottles of the 05 Ridge Geyserville but haven’t tried it.

Gravity Hills Zin 2004 (Gary’s fav from last years Thanksgiving episode).

I can’t believe the steelers lost. Oh well, we will still be in the playoffs, and anything can happen once you make it there…

Good stuff today Gary. I guess you indirectly answered my question on whether more than 5 wines at a sitting would overwhelm the palate!

QOTD: Sparkling shiraz and then prosecco with dessert

Love the southwest of France…bringing it hard and often..at least in my household. Anyway I will probably be doing a little Viognier w/ a side of Zinfandel, but now that is on the ropes because I may grab something last minute from the Rhone region….how fun is this!!!!!

I really liked this show! My impression of the great quality coming from southwestern france is probably very close to yours. Good stuff. QOTD: I’m having a wine that I first learned about on WLTV, the 2004 Altos de Luzon, a really lucious Jumilla that I’ve ordered multiple times.
    Happy Thanksgiving G!

“And who doesn’t like jockstraps filled with pickles?” Classic. “Think about that fun girl. All fun fun fun…and no conversation.” Another classic. Someone needs to make another montage of Vaynerisms..this episode is key! I’m so glad you had a good episode GV! And way to go France!

QOTD: I’ll be drinking Felline Primitivo Di Manduria 2005, one that you did a show on in October and probably a Riesling, for all of those White Zinfandel drinkers in my family. I’ll try and show them what the wine world has to offer!

  • QOTD: If you click on my name and go to my blog and see the posting from November 17th titled GV we have a problem, they you’ll see some of what I will be drinking. Or I can just tell you here, I’ll be having the secret GV Thanks 4 pack, which is down to 3 thanks to… ah, it’s on the blog. I will also be starting the day off with Cava Marques de Gelida 2003, dining with Chablis Gilbert Picq & ses Fils 2006 and a South African Chardonnay from Danie De Wet Limestone Hill that the sales guy at Astor insisted, I mean really insisted I buy, plus the GV3, then a delicious gingerbread will be served with Moscato d’Asti Bera Canelli. Then I will fall into a food coma.

PS I added a widget to my blog, entered the contest, I live within driving distance of WL and can get myself there so… pick me pick me!!!!!

PSS FYI GV or mott – the one list of five widget made my computer go wonky.

    Great episode Gary,

After the previous episode I tried the Coume Del Mas Schistes and very impressed. I was not expecting what I consider such a New World style wine with complexity. It was great that you started trying more wines from Southwest France which I will definetely make an effort to try.

  • QOTD: Thanksgiving is so ‘last month’ for us Canadians.
What did I drink? A Babich Sauv Blanc paired with Jacques Pépin’s recipe for ‘poulet a la creme’. See? http://kevinkossowan.blogspot.com/2007/10/thanksgiving-dinner-2007.html. [You’ll notice the shiny new widget]

    Gary,

Great show…now for the fun part.

QOTD: I will be drinking a white 2005 Gessami Gramona from Spain and a 2006 Bergstrom: Dr. Bergstrom Riesling from Oregon. I am very, very excited about these wines for the turkey…it will be great to taste them both again. It’s been about 2-3 months since I decided the last time that I wanted them for Turkey Day.

QOTD: We haven’t nailed it down yet but in addition to your four-pack we’re thinking about the Wine by Joe Pinot Gris, 2005 Peter Lehmann Sémillon Botrytis, and for breakfast the Riondo Proecco.

I’m kind of curious about how long to decant the Bordeaux from the Thanksgiving pack and when to serve the Sardinian wine.

Good to see you happy about football again Gary!
