Gary, the decanting is onnnn. A cheap wine might just be a
little better. This has got to be the best two weeks in WLTV!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all you do. I feel much better about going out for a few bottles
    now and not getting burned.

Great “Classic” episode today. Entertaining but insightful. Bring JD back!
QOTD: I try to always decant when possible. Definite changes the wine.
Those of you who don’t decant, see episode #18 and convert.

  • Fantastic show, Gary. I try to decant as much as possible. I’ll have to watch your decanting show as I’ve been curious about what the funnel should do (tilt, straight, etc.) when I decant.

In the spirit of the season, thank you for giving. This episode was exceptional. It truly shows that everything is relative. Veiwing, I felt that Jeffrey Davies is to you, what you are to me.

QOTD: Already a believer in decanting.

Most enjoyable episode – The guests are a good thing as they bring different perspectives and dynamics to the cuvee.

QOTD: If decanting is wrong, I don’t wanna be right!

OK, OK, I will watch #18 and start decanting more often. I usually drink wine at home on weeknights and come right in from work and pour. As such, decanting conflicts with the instant gratification thing I like to have goin’ on.

Great episode, GV. Your bombastic self and Jeffrey’s soft-spoken nature, both focused on the wines. Terrific balance. I rate this episode a 92+.

“They didn’t think they were weapons.”
    “They obviously don’t know you.”

    Classic.

I know there’s been a lot of discussion about decanting in the forums, and I’m part of the group that thinks that decanting can hurt some wines–and I’m not talking only about well-aged wines. For whatever reason, some wines just seem to fade away after a couple of hours in the decanter, so I don’t understand why some people insist on decanting “every wine,” or “almost every wine” they drink. Anyway, I guess my point is, you have to taste it and judge for yourself before you commit.

    Back to reality: Great Episode!!!

Great Show and Guest Gary…but you should let your guest talk more as you had intended at the opening 🙂

    Great show! Thank you both…
Since I’m more of a pop and pour person, I don’t have a decanter yet… I really should try decanting to see the difference. Thanks for the tips

    GV-

Along the same lines as Michael Goldfine earlier…
We love you, but how about zippin’ your lip and allowing such a distinguished and knowledgeable guest speak without jumping on his lines and forcing the yucks…
I don’t wish to be unkind, but, regarding your claim that part of your success is that you respond to every email. Well, a reply that simply completes the loop but doesn’t address the question asked suggests that your going for quantity and not quality. I complain because I care.
Keep on keepin’ on – even if your Jets have fallen short.

QOTD: I should definitely decanter more. I’ve found that it makes a world of difference, especially with younger wines. I pledge to Decanter more in 2008.

That my friend was a great show. I usually decant my better wines, although I’m afraid to decant those 20 – 30 year old vintages. I let them open up in the glass.

Because I’m drinking my everyday stuff over two to three days I don’t feel it necessary to decant. This is probably the reason some of those $20 reds taste better the second night.
