I’ll be rock climbing this weekend, like almost every weekend. No football, no team sports. Don’t watch – DO!! Why sit on a couch getting chubby watching someone else have fun bashing themselves to a pulp on TV when you could be out banging up your own body on overhanging limestone finger pockets? Naturally, a little New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc when we get back to the car, and a nice Madiran when I get home.

On the other hand, if someone wants to sign me up to a 10 year contract for $40 million, I’d consider letting them broadcast my little personal triumphs as high entertainment throughout the lounger’s world. No extensions though, at 63 I doubt that I can climb at my peak for more than another 10 years.

I am not a football fan but I think the Giants and Washington will do it.
This weekend I am just going to chill. I told my wife, no eating out, no going shopping and no visiting friends or family. I’m holing myself up i the house and making some beef burgundy(technically Pinot Noir)for Saturday and homemade pizzas on Sunday. I am going to open two or three bottles of wines I have not tried before and see what happens with the food and over the weekend to them.

QOTD: On Saturday: breakfast out, ditch walking with my friend Robin and her German Shepard Oscar – developing strategy to thwart pack of unconfined bull terriers who try to take him down when we pass their home. (without incurring law suit). Sunday – lunch with my mom. Pull a couple of wines for dinner. Light the fire in the fireplace. Consider taking down some Christmas decorations.

Pitt – At home with big Ben, I think thry jump on Jax early and then Jax can’t get the running game going.

Was – Living in DC I have seen the Skins play all season and they just are able to move the ball. Hawks have no running game this year.

Ten – Norv Turner is awful

NYG – Brandon Jacobs runs wild and Eli does not have to deal with weather.

What’s up Gary! As you were today, I will be on the couch. I’m rolling down to the shore house to hang for the weekend because I’m sick, and I need to be alone and rest.

As for the ball thing. You know I’m not into sports. But I did go to Mortons on New Years Eve for dinner and I sat next to this kid Plaxico Burress #17 of the Giants. And what do you know…. I see hin on the back page of the Daily News today.

Anyway, I would have got you his autograph but I wasn’t sure if you liked him, or hated him as you definately have your opinions about certain players.

Otherwise, writing proposals cause someone’s gotta do it. Then playing some crappy old man rec hockey. Drinking some wine, what, I don’t know yet. And sitting outside in 70+ weather in Austin smoking cigars. Austin sucks, don’t move here.

Totally agree about stinkyoldplonk from California. Why is it all whites must taste like oaked chardonnay, all reds like oaked shiraz. What fun is that?

QotD : This weekend is spelled STUDYING. The annual Swedish Sommelier Contest is coming up and I´m in the semifinal even though I haven´t taken my sommelier exam yet. So lots of studying: wines from Eastern Europe and German words for Grand Cru and things of that nature…

This weekend: Enjoying my solitude while my SO is away visiting her folks. Cathing up with friends who are back from vacation. And, of course, NFL palyoffs.

Friday is already over, 2 am here, had some fun with friends playing on an old slotcar raceway. Due to the age of the cars we were mainly busy with getting the cars to be able to drive, had great fun! Saturday and Sunday I’ll be learning for the TOEFL – hopefully with some time left for art museum and a long stroll.
