Another great laid back Friday. What is up for me this weekend? I am doing a lot of cooking, blogging and reading. perfect weekend for me!

QOTD: Going to get together with some friends to discuss the barrel tasting event that will be happening here in Sonoma county. We gotta figure out what wineries to hit other than Armida, Bella, Everett Ridge, Mazzocco and this new one called Matrix. I hope Matrix has red and blue wine.

I’m in Boquete, tasting Bierzo and other beautiful wines, far away from home, with my friend Ron who just watched the thunder show with me, so I’m spreading the t-show. Concepcion is here, her mom, and my daughter Lucia. Consider naming your daughter Lucia some day.. Lucia Vaynerchuk. You’ll love her! Have a GREAT weekend!

Enjoyed the 2004 Leon Barral Faugeres episode. Only you could throw around assessments like “white asparagus”, “cellar dust”, and “sardine juice” authoritatively and, because of your knowledge and willingness to try different tastes and textures, we can accept your comments. We are going to hunt for this bottle THIS weekend. Looking forward to future episodes.

QOTD: Getting together with some friends for a wine tasting. For this tasting, some couples were asked to bring one bottle that they love. Others to bring two bottles: one they love, and one they want to try. Can’t wait!

No, have never heard of Faugeres! Not into sardines at all so will skip these. Enjoying the wine expo and looking for GV and his skimpily clad friends at table 857-859.

QotD 1: No I haven’t and yes I am very interested – both wines are priced reasonably enough that I would like to taste while watching this show.

QotD 2: Playing with my almost 6 month old daughter and with my beautiful and awesome wife.

QOTD: Training for the Napa Marathon. This is the toughest weekend in the training schedule: I’ll be running 20 miles tomorrow. I think it’s pretty likely I’m going to sip some wine afterwards. I certainly will after the marathon itself, on March 2nd. The world’s best champagne, without question, is post-marathon champagne; nothing else compares with it at any price-point.

This weekend is a glorious wine weekend, but alas will not be able to come to Boston (although I was just there on business a month ago, love the place as far as cities go).

I actually had one of these maybe….. 20-25 years ago. I remember it (with notes) as you described it except for a dose of road tar in the oldie. It was about 10 years old, I think. Jadis or not?!?! I don’t remember. Great show!!!

QOTD: Homework: tasting the ’04,’05,’06 Domaine La Garrigue to decide if more of the ’06 is a good thing. And boning up on calculus (Yikes!)
