QOTD: in a word: freeshipping. You could select a different state every week to get free shipping and start with New Mexico.

I think the Pricing Issues that are posted on the Comments here are unjustified. Yes these wines are expensive…but not when you compare them with a Puligny Montrachet or Chassagne or Corton Charlamagne…it’s like half the price. GV I have had the 2005 Hubert Lamay…and not only was a 2005 Burgundy White Or Red a Fantastic Vintage like Willamette Valley Oregon sharing the 45th degree Parallel with Burgundy France…but maybe it was the atmosphere when you had the 2001 Lamay because to me the 05 and My PAL says this is MONEY . Applewood Smoked Bacon, Beautiful Balance…nothing California could ever produce nor sadly Washington State….This is White Burgundy in a little hidden spot at it’s Finest…at Upper End California Fake ,Over Oaked Fruit Bomb Chardonnay Prices. Great Show GV..All Vayniacs should Seek out this Lamay!!!

On Second Thought Taste This Lamay against $45 A Bottle Chalk Hill Or $53.00 Over Oaked Far Niente Chard Or Cakebread or Grgich Hills or Plumpjack and all the fake Overrated overpriced Cali Chards and then see if 47 bones sounds like alot compared to an $80 bottle of Puligny Montrachet

  • Honestly, I just am not a big fan of the oaky whites. Though my experiences with the big white burgs have been minimal, it just doesn’t seem to be a preference of mine. Maybe I’ll give them another chance with these, though

Gary Vaynerchuk – “the greatest fish and wine drinking human on the planet.” Been drinking that fish again, eh?

QOTD: same as some of the other commenters – the price and availability locally.

I’ve never had a wine from that area. Money’s the only thing holding me back right now.

Enjoyed the show…your enthusiasm is wonderful.

QOTD: 1) We keep trying Chardonnay and don’t love it…don’t even like it. These wines are different, I know.
    2) They are out of our budget range.

Great Show! Last year when I figured out who Saint Aubins neibors are I started seeking them out. In fact, the 05 Girardin was the first one I had. It’s definitly some serious chard!

Yo GV, awesome show~ great information~ sorry haven’t left a comment in over a week…been in lurker mode due to the day job getting pretty busy. God…imagine if I were married and had kids? Given that I just got out of a relationship and I’d want to date a girl for about two years before the proposal, and 1 year engagement period…I’d say you can expect about 3 more years of consistent comments from me =P
QOTD: Exactly! Man, looks like Hubert Lamy is sold out at your store already! Maybe I should pick up a bottle of Vincent Girardin this weekend. I think there’s a St. Aubin island or something in Jersey though…is that right?

Gary, what is with the itching? I have to say it reduces the appeal of the wines when the taster appears to have poison ivy…

Great show today, way to start the week.
QOTD- I have not tried one yet, I will add it to me ever growing list of wines to try.

First time commenter, long time lurker. Great show as always, but hopefully you can rectify the wardrobe malfunction before you get a bunch of bad PR. To be clear, I don’t mean to hate, rather just play. I really enjoy the show and my kids are drawn to it like a moths to a flame. You know the 30% you lose in the first few minutes, I’m sure they aren’t kids. Maybe that’s your true demographic – you should taste gummy bears and compare it to Riesling you had last year.
QOTD – Price points are holding me back from a lot of white burgs. While I find whites much more aromatically appealing, I have tasted a only scant few that I would trade a kidney for – more often with reds and stickies. Recently our Signature Liquor Store in Vancouver had a huge burg tasting (some premier cru but mostly borgogne and village) and I was completely unimpressed from a qpr point of view. Guess I have to seek out some of the lesser known areas or varietals. Keep up the good work!!

Had a St. Aubin a few years back with a friend, Charlie, who is in the wine biz (and certainly in ‘the know’ for this region). I recall that it was very good, but I honestly don’t think I appreciated it at the time; I was much less experienced.

QOTD: Adding St. Aubin to the regional watch list. Something tells me this is going to be an expensive year for me. From the sounds of it, though, it’ll be worth the monies.

  • KVolk

QOTD: only way I am getting to try these wines is if I but them from you Gary….which may happen.

Yes, the same problem as others, availability and $$. Will work on it.

Great episode today, you really pumped me up to try a St. Aubin and I normally don’t care for Chardonnay. Might be that Cali thing. I have never tried one. Checked the local merchants here and just found a 2005 St. Aubin; Frionnes;Marc Jomain at $28.99. Really considering going to get it and hope it comes close to what you had today.

    Hey Gary,

Major wardrobe malfunctions today. The shirt is all funky and unbuttoned but more importantly…where is the “bringing the thunder” wrist band?!?!

QOTD: If those prices are representative, I’m waiting for (a) my budget to go up, or (b) the exchange rate to improve DRAMATICALLY. But I did have a nice Maconnais this weekend so I guess that’s going to have to satisfy me for now.

QOTD: Sane pricing. There are so many wonderful wines priced in the mid $30s or less to be able to rationalize a high $40s wine… but check back with me after my ship comes in. That $29 WB, however, sounds interesting and it may make the shopping list.
