Gary wine with a screwtop can be corked and you know that.. wineries are tainted with TCA all the time.. and the winemakers cannot even smell it after being around it for so long.

gary, big congrats to 2 years doing WLTV. I remember occasionally heading up to WL when I lived in New Brunswick and having the employees telling me about WLTV when it first started. I ignored them, but it finally took until my friend grant told me what was up about this to really realize what the thunder was about(and even then it took me until around the Joe Tensley Episode to start watching).

I have to give you a big thanks for having helping me check out as much wine as I’ve checked out and really turning me into a inquizative wine drinker and finding many different wines to be intriguing.

so, thank you for the two years and hopefully you’ll finally do a proper burgundy episode(c’mon I had to chime in with that as a burghead 🙂 )

See you next week in Orlando.

    Cheers,

My parents just brought me 2 bottles from WL and we watched this episode together! Viva la vino! Thanks Gary, Mott and all the WL crew and everybody else who watched this show before me and kept it running till I caught on!

Now I need to get me some deals on shipping!

  • bundydb

Great show Gary!!! Just the thought of the show going off depresses me… I look forward to this show as much as I do getting off work. At that is to say I look forward to it A LOT!!! lol Keep up the great work. I honestly do not know how you keep the energy level up day in and day out. I think you were just born to do this! Since I was old enough to drink my dad has been trying to get me into drinking/trying wines. I just never did until I was watching an episode of Diggnation a long time ago and Kevin gave you a shout out and said everybody needed to check you out. I did, and I’ve hooked ever since! This show is how I unwind after working 12 tedious hours in a very busy ER everyday (it seems everyday anyway). If a new show is not up, I’ll look for old ones that aired before I started watching. Now days, I watch WinelibraryTV and TheTotallyRadShow and that’s about it online. Can’t get enough!!!

    Keep the Sniffy Sniffs coming!!!!

What a great episode! WLTV is an amazing thing, and has such a great following of many MANY great people, but without Gary, a great person himself, I dont think any of this is possible. It should not be him thanking us, we should be thanking him! THANK YOU GARY!

  • happy anniversary! some of the most valuable things i’ve learned from the show are to try different things and to try different producers from regions/varietals that i thought i didn’t like. for quite a while i avoided grenache, because of a single bottle that was highly ‘rated’, but that i didn’t enjoy. as it turns out, i LOVE grenache and the show helped sparked my interest in giving this grape another try, and boy am i glad i did. i’ve also tried wines from some pretty unexpected places, the most interesting is probably Japan. anyone else tried a Japanese wine (and no, i’m not taking sake, i mean vinifera grapes here…)?

thanks for all the effort and, again, happy anniversary!

  • Wow, not many comments yet!

SOTD: Wine rules. I haven’t been really “into” wine for very long, but boy did I dive in head first. I’ve been watching wine library TV since before episode 100, and I can’t believe it’s ONLY been two years (especially thinking about my two year old Nephew who is still so small!) Just like I can’t believe that wine I bought “way back when” is still not ready to drink, and looking at my purchase, I bought it four months ago… Enjoying a good glass of wine definitely does make me happy (not only at the moment, but kind of sort of in life in general), and I thank you for bringing me deeper into this life of wine. To another 20 years? 😉 Cheers.

What I’m drinking now: 2006 Enzo Boglietti Dolcetto d’Alba Tiglineri. Got the ’05 from you, but this one is a different ball game all together! HUGE and tannic as all hell. 92 points Stephen Tanzer, for a $20 wine! I went 89 points because it’s so covered in tannins, but in a few years… this will rock!
