    QOTD: NO!

Mood of the Day: You have my permission to count this comment (because it’s coming from ME, as worth 10 comments). Also and alas, could it be that there are more than a few out there perceiving your threat as another cry of “Wolf!”?

And finally, Robin C said, “The show is stopping and starting a lot and Quicktime isnâ??t kicking in, so Iâ??ll finish it tomorrow.”. I had that problem in spades yesterday, to the point that the ep was almost unwatchable. Perhaps there were many others having the same difficulty. (Fine reception today, tho’.)

  • QOTD: I have never had a Sauternes, but will have to look into it. I believe we have all three varieties you mentioned in the blend growing here in our vineyard in S. Oregon.

Sorry that you did not reach the 1000 mark on yesterday’s show. That would bum me out as well, especially on the 2nd year anniversary. Hopefully others will leave comments this time as I know how much they feed your show. I guess I will have to keep doing my part and leaving one for you. I was once a lurker, but have broken out of my shell. Your core set of Vayniacs will try to cheer you up.

PUNISH US GARY! THANK YOU SIR MAY I HAVE ANOTHER! Withhold the “sniffy-sniff” if you must – it just fulfills the masochistic lurkers’ fantasies! On a serious note: I’m betting the bucket would have been quite palletable today.

QotD: I’ve never had a Sauterne. Though I’m curious to try it out, I’m afraid the price point is out of my league unless it’s specifically for a birthday or something.

I just had my first Sauternes at a tasting a couple weeks back. I’m a newbie, so I definitely did not expect the intensity. It was a 1985 Chateau Gilette. It rocked. Thanks for doin the show even when you’re down.

This makes me want to have a dessert sometime worthy of one of these wines. Working hard for it!

    Gary,
I always turn down the intro to the show, but this time…. Your making the twins upset. Like my dad always said “Get over it or I’ll really give you something to pout about” Time to wipe their little eyes dry.
Never tried a Sauternes, always been a Port man, Taylor Flads 40 year mmmmm….

qotd: haven’t tried it yet, but am looking forward to it. maybe i’ll break out a bottle of that and a bottle of the hungarian dessert wine (forgot the grape) for comparison sometime.

Sauternes can be wonderful wines. Liked the episode – even if it was laid back Thursday.
You need to have some Cali-syrah to get you back in form.

Aw Gary… GARY! What’s up with the frown? Hey, at least you’re getting me out of lurk-mode.
Hate dessert wine (won’t get near port, never tried any sauternes though…) but loooove me some blue cheese. Fourme d’Ambert too, deLICIOUS!

Wow…a cameo from Episode #92 Gary Vaynerchuck! (Link it up!)….a subdued “Vay-ner-chuck” intro….
    threw me off.
Never had (heard of) Sauterns…but excited to look ’em up.
    thanks…
and GaryV don’t worry…if people’s thoughts and feelings about you would automatically type themselves into the comment sections…

Gary, you really could have taken the day off!

QOTD: I’ve never had a sauterne. Pricing on these wines makes it kind of a tough area for me to explore right now.

    QOTD: Never had one (yet).

Buck up! I was feeling bummed this morning, myself. Trying to find a parking space stresses me out. I heard this on the radio, and it cheered me up a bit though:

Is it lame that I felt all warm and fuzzy after hearing that? Hey, I can’t help that I’m all super vulnerable before I’ve had my morning coffee.

    PS-I’m sorry for lurking! >_>

I’m really sorry I didn’t leave you a comment yesterday….I did submit a wine question and “friend’ed” you up on Facebook….(can I get partial credit. But seeing what a downer it was for you not to get a 1000 yesterday is a downer for me. Sorry!

As for sauterne, I think I have had some but it’s been so long ago I don’t really remember what I thought of it….probably was unremarkable…why else would I not remember it?

Back in the 1970’s I visited a nice dress shop in the Georgetown section of Washinton DC. We were ushered thru the store to a hidden garden in back where we were served sauturn and tiny sandwitches while models came out to show us the latest styles. Whenever I taste these wines I think of that day. Jerry the 2thdr

  • After mostly drinking dessert wines like muscat, I was once fortunate enough to try the 1976 Chateau d’Yquem. I almost wish I had done so after I had tried a wider range of dessert wines, just so I could have had a greater appreciation of it. That said, it was amazing–it seemed as complex as an herbal liqueur, like MP Elisir Roux.

Sauternes are lovely, but I have to say that my favourite desert wine is a Royal Tokaji.

    Keep up the good work.
