  • Why do you try white wines at room temperature?
You may not agree, give all the explanations you always do on the show, however, truth is that you loose the best caracteristics of a white wine, beacuse it is made to be drunk in a cooler temperature.
My sugestion: drink the same wine in 5 different temperatures on the show and them you gonna get the thunder!!!!

  • Gary, Kirk is busting you up, getting you to try new things. This was a great episode, and I know that you talk the talk but you can also walk the walk. Great job on expanding your pallet. As for my man Kirk, you roll deep, you roll hard, you may even roll beyond what is normal for wine aficionados. Very good episode. And Gary you try some honey wines with those fruit wines. Also, last summer I tried making fruit wine. It didn’t turn out so well.

Good episode guys. Nice contrast and discussion between Kirk’s impression of the wines vs Gary’s impressions. It was a fine example of “listening” to your own palette.

I most enjoy drinking wine with my brothers and sisters. There are eight of us siblings, plus spouses, and grown children, and their spouses, etc. etc. — so, varying numbers and too many to count, but, when we get together, our favorite activity is to drink wine and tell stories. We can go on all night and sometimes we do. It’s the best!

Good show and an interesting collection of wines. Kirk brought the thunder as guest cohost. His being from Maine ties in with my QOTD answer.

QOTD: Family and friends, of course. One of the best wine times my wife and I had was visiting friends in Camden, Maine and sitting around from mid-afternoon to late evening enjoying good conversation, good food, and good wine.

BTW the wild blueberries that grow in Maine top any berries that you will find in the grocery store for flavor. Wild blueberry pancakes for breakfast can’t be beat.

That was a very interesting show, Gary; it was cool of you to bring on Kirk to try out his fledgling thunder. I think he probably learned alot from being on there with you. Answer to Question of the day: Definitley my beautiful wife.

    Great show, great guest.

QOTD: We like to taste with our friends George and Meph. They are cats, so they only sniffy-sniff, but man, they do hate on the Oak Monster and Buttersquatch.

Good show, I like guests that know something about wine.

QOTD: my wife, Rose Mary, who has a better pallet than me. I’ll read a review, pour the wine and struggle to find most of the flavors. She’ll have not read the review and start rattling off many of the same flavors as the reviewer (usually GV). Amazing!

That’s quite a range of wines. Good job Kirk. I wish I had the guts to quit my job and go work in the wine world. Alas, my family likes my income……

I enjoy sharing wine with my golfing buddies Jim and Jerry. We all like teaching each other new things and trying new wines.

Cool show. Kirk, you are spot on about Susanna Kelham. I had the pleasure of spending some time with her and tasting their wines a few weeks ago and she is definitely first class.

I love guest episodes, especially when there are so many wines being packed into one tasting. I’m dying to try that Bartlett if for no other reason that to taste and try to figure out that mystery flavor that was on the tip of Gary’s tongue.

QOTD: My girlfriend and my Italian grandparents.

Yeah for representing the Rogue Valley in Oregon. Gary you should have a southern Oregon show and you should learn how to say Oregon.
