THANK YOU GARY!!! for doing a CKC episode/value driven episode. I’m definately going to have to try that Taja Jumillia and the white wine you tried first. Great work man, i really enjoyed the episode

QOTD: the best under 10$ wine i have had would probably be a mix between the super valued BERCO DU INFANTE you tried a while back that rolled in at only
5$ which was unreal in both value and quality, and for white wines it would probably be a mix between the CANDONI PINOT GRIGIO or the PETER ZEMMER PINOT GRIGIO… i know the zemmer is one of the more mass produced that you are trying to get everyone away from but its actually a decent bottle imo.

    great show man!

Last under 10 bucks wine that I liked would have to be a Jumilla wine called LUZON. Also tried there organic wine to, Luzon Verde which for an organic and under $10 was good. I really don’t rate Doc. Jay Miller at all. Tell Mr. Parker to dump the chump.

QotD: Last good wine under 10 bones – 2004 Tres Pico Garnacha (Borsao) – wow…it is the ultimate QPR in my book.

PS – I can’t stop laughing when you do the Russian wrestler voice…it kills me…i think I watch more for that than the wine now.

PPS – San Diego ever on your radar screen? I’m doing that blind tasting – 2005 MOnbousquet – Aroma de Pavie – and Secret de Cardinale

Hey Gary, great show! Love when you do value driven wines. I would have to say, Panarroz 2005.

    QOTD :
Ercavio Roble Tempranillo – $8, I believe. Has this capitivating floral component that’s just super interesting. Also had a bottle of the Castano Monastrell a couple weeks ago- but the 2005 vintage. It benifits hugely from some decanting time & served with food vs solo. I always have enjoyed it & found it to be a very solid effort under $10. Going to try this week the Penfolds 2006 Koonunga Shiraz-Cab. – 91 pts JM & $7 @ our local store (Applejack – Colorado). On paper, a potential huge QPR.

Don’t have the 1st wristband, but am enjoying the bring the thunder one.
    Have not had a Loureiro.

QOTD: Independent Producers Merlot from Columbia Valley–about 9 bones from WL. You might think it was a little candy-esk—starburst sweet-tart flavors. But a soft enjoyable wine, nonetheless.

  • LOVE the theme today….thanks for the value-show. I’d love to see how the Jumilla stands up to other more expensive wines from the region…

QOTD: Li Veli Passamante, Salento Negroamaro 2003.

Last $10.00 Wine is similar to the Taja – Las Rojas Grenacha is decent enough and we’re also partial to the Jumilla Panarozz (we’ve had 05’s and 06’s) that comes in around the same price point – I’ve also had the Castano in the past but like the others better. Love this episode – looking forward to the book.
