QOTD: ok, GV, laugh at me, laugh at me all you will! But for $7.59 the orange label Avalon is drinkable. I swear it must be 15% syrah cause there is grapefuit and white pepper on the mid-palate, but give me this over all the crap that rolls for $10 wine.

Have not had a beautiful $10 wine since the 2000 Casa Ermita Monestrall from Jumilla.

QOTD – Just finished a bottle of Magnificent Wine Co’s Red Table Wine. It was fairly solid and is priced around $10. It’s a Cab blend (Cab/Merlot/Syrah/Malbec/Franc) from Walla Walla Valley in Washington State.

    Gary,

Of course I still have the original Vaniac wristband. You gave it to me in the store back in April last year.

  • Hi Gary, long time watcher, first time poster. Love the show, keep bringing the thunder.

  • QOTD: A Paso Robles 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon in a Black Box (3 bottles for $21) Very good for the price point, plus I can have a glass or two at night and not worry that it’s going bad before I drink it all.

  • Not surprised the EVIL stinks. Not a fan of the Autralian wines.
QOTD: Last under 10 bones wine I had was ALAMOS Malbec from Argentina. I enjoyed it very much.

    QOTD 3: Neblina Vinho Verde!

Hey, sold out on the Taja already? Geez. QOTD: Thought the 06, Alamos Malbec and Chardonnay were pretty tasty for under $10.
Great show Gary, would love to see more of these formats (ie easy on the wallet, good wine values). Thanks,

  • I’m an amateur, but I really liked Frey’s organic red zinfandel which was under $10.

  • GV – Thanks for the bargain show. QOTD – Red Newt Red Salamander white (finger lakes) – not bad, perfect summer school-nite, $8ish. It used to be Hugel Gentil for many years, but the word got out on that. I’ve not seen Alsace for awhile on the TS!

QOTD. I DO have the original WB. I sent you a picture recently from my visit to CdP.
QOTD2. I’ve had a Ribeiro from Galicia that was Loureiro. These were like $1 a bottle in Spain 10 years ago.
QOTD3. Probably the 2004 Argiolas Costera that I had yesterday. I think I got that for $9.99 from you guys.

I guess I’m officially not a lurker, now that I’ve been called out.
QOTD: Abrazo del Toro Tempranillo 2002 7 bones! (That’s what I have recorded, but I’ve tasted several 5 bone Malbec and Bonardas that I’ve adored, if only I remember which ones)

  • QOTD: Tough question, I had to go into my notes to look. It was a wine from a local RI producer that I’ve never been that wild about, Sakonnet Vineyards, but we loved this wine. It’s a NV white table wine called Cock of the Walk (the RI Red is a rooster) that I got for $9.00.

Side note, I picked a bottle of Greco di Tufo at a restaurant last night. So while I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get to a wine store before the weekend, I did fulfill my Tuesday Task for the week. The wine, a 2005 Dei Feudi Di San Gregorio, was good. My wife and I didn’t go gaga for it. It was bright with lots of apple and a little lemon and lots of acidity. I’d try another some time.

Hey Gary! Thanks for tip on the Portuguese White Wine! I prefer the whites during the warmer months, but have limited myself to the German Reislings. I’ll give it a shot!

(Since you begged for responses…again…really…relax, we love what your doing…)

QOTD: a little Costco action with the “Red Table Wine” (pretty sure thats the actual name) – a merlot from Washington State.

QOTD1: Never had a Loureiro. I will have to seek it out.

QOTD2: Last best under $10 wine was 2006 Don Miguel Gascon Malbec. I like a bit of the fruit, and this one is nice for the price point.

Great show! I like QPR shows, it helps me build my “want list” of wines.
QOTD: Twin Fin Melot was pretty good for around $7
