Great show! I like QPR shows, it helps me build my “want list” of wines.
QOTD: Twin Fin Melot was pretty good for around $7

Best under $10 wine I’ve ever had: 1998 Cronin Zinfandel/Mourvedre Santa Clara [disclaimer: I work at the store which sells it exclusively]. It is very, very tasty wine, though. Much thunder.

Recent under $10 white which should be widely available and I liked a lot: 2007 Veramonte Sauvignon Blanc from Chile. Great deal for fans of the crisp and brisk.

Loved the call it like it is aspect to the show, no roogaly fake wines please. A great $10 wine is the Domaine de Fontsainte from Corbieres and Kermit Lynch(104 yr. old Carignan vines). The reserve is all of $13. Carignan from France is always welcome. Not really a fan of cheap Grenache based wines from the Rhone or Spain, there inexpensive for a reason and it’s not because they’re under the Radar.

Red Truck Baby!!!!! Nice green pepper component on the nose.

Also, Bogle Petite Syrah is pretty gosh-darn swell.

Can’t remember the last wine under $10 that we liked. I’ll have to try and find some of the Taja.

    Great show, keep it up.

  • I had a great wine called Twisted Chard:

I’m no expert, but I liked it a lot with some spicy Mexican food.

QOTD: Last wine under $10 was Naked Grape Sauv Blanc, which actually, wasn’t bad at all. We don’t get many wines under $10 here in BC. Hell 2 buck chuck would be 12 buck chuck here.

Red: Casillero del Diablo 2006 Carmenere. I know this is a big industrial wine, but I like it. It has this sort of Denny’s stale maple syrup smell.

White: Sauvion 2006 Muscadet sur lie. This had a marzipan smell that I liked. I’m pretty sure it was under $10.

QOTD: Carmenere from Chile and whites from Siciliy are usually good values. Some recent favorites include: Cono Sur Carmenere, ZABU Inzolia, and Regaleali Sicilia White.

Loved the Taja. Had it a few weeks ago. I thought it might have had some old world Bordeaux love in it!!!!!!!! Nothing like a little Bordeaux influence to push the wine from Jumilla over the top;-)

  • Fantastic eposode for our current economic slowdown where everyone is spending less or spending more wisely.
I especially like the Taja and the piece on Loureiro which I have never tasted.
Thanks from all the people watching here in New Zealand.
