Has Jay Miller EVER not rated a wine 90 points? SERIOUSLY, what a joke!

You hated the past EVIL as well, funny.

I’ll be getting my hands on the Taja :)… but why didn’t you rate it!?!?

    QOTD: Riondo Prosecco

  • Two favorite wines under $10. 2006 Water Wheel Memise $9 (AUS Shiraz, Cab, Malbec blend) 90 point Robert Parker. Also, I like 2006 Alamosa Malbec $8 (recommended by Gary)

  • The Castano has definitely rocked it for me in the past…though the last time I had it was a bit lackluster.

QOTD: Said this a few weeks ago, but it’s still the best for now La Vielle Ferme Cotes du Ventoux Rouge. $7. Delivers.

God I had the worst wine day yesterday!!! I TRIED SOMETHING NEW, and it turned out to be a MAJOR PASS. It was some German Spatlese that tasted exactly like Relax Riesling, bleauagck!

Vino Verde — I don’t know if the vino verde I’ve had was made with Loureiro or not

That’s a real good price on EVIL, but I still don’t like it

QOTD the last best under $10 wine I’ve had was a 2001 Château Barat (Bordeaux, on sale last winter for $7.50, which I rated an 88)

QOTD Riondo Prosecco introduced to us on one of your shows … it is a nice “go to” wine that we feel mates well with most dishes.

Just had the Castano this week… I did NOT like it. Very basic, sour and weak on the mid-pallet. I let it sit for 24 hours with little improvement.

QOTD: To be honest, I find it very hard to get bottles of wine in the $10 range (have I mentioned that BC’s liquor taxes are ridiculous?) that is serviceable. The last one would have been a Gazela Vinho Verde, I do believe.

Although, as a side note, a friend of mine is looking for me to pick out a red and a white for her wedding reception, so I’ll be popping the cork on 8 different 10-11 CAD wines in the next few weeks, so I might have to come back and re-answer the QOTD.

  • When the black bands were available I passed on them, back when I was a lurker…but I was there for every show, now trying to make up for that! (Your advertisement on Wine Spectator is how I found you)

QOTD: Last night at a tasting I had a 2002 Bordeaux from Castillion, I did not get a chance to see the label.

I like the value thunder episodes.

QOTD: hmm, had the Root One cab last night, and I think I paid just under $10 for that. It’s a pretty respectable wine at that price point.

Great show! I agree with Gary on the Catano. I have had it several times but found this vintage to be disjointed, tannic and not very appealing overall. The best under $10 red I have had recently was Alamos Malbec for $9.99. The best white was Colombelle (Colombard/Ugni Blanc) from South West France for $7.99.

Thanks for the vinho verde…I have had it before, but I am not sure of the grape varietal. Please, ban the Evil cab from the show; you have panned it twice.

  • Kev and Ams

Oh, I have the original wristband.

QOTD: I have the original – have all three in fact. It is my WLTV wrist-band vertical!

QOTD2: Without a doubt, 100% the 2006 Pascual Toso Malbec. Needs 1-2 hours in the decanter, but sings after that. I was stunned this wine came in at 9 bones.

  • Lee W

QOTD-Four Vines Chard for a white wine $9 and a Grego Temperanillo from Spain at $10.

Wish you had more positive reviews on the lower price range for us to seek out

QOTD: A couple really great wines under $10.00 stand out to me. 1) Snoqualimie 2006 Riesling from Washington. Great stuff!! 2) Montevina Zinfandel 2004 from Amador County. In fact many wines from Montevina are of great value, no I don’t work for them or even know someone there! They just stand out as a value based wine, that put’s a quality from year to year.

    I like the show!

ALSO……. I agree with the person that suggested the other day that you do a show on the book, this will really help drive sales and give us a few tid bids from the book!! MAKE IT HAPPEN, THROW DOWN SOME THUNDER!!
