QQTD: I actually haven’t had many under 10 dollars wines which is really unfortunate. I am definitely going to pick up the one you liked to try.

    Great show!

Nice, I like that we’re getting back to a few values. I love the comfort of buying wine under 10 bucks. If it’s bad… so what! Just drink it after you open the next (better) bottle!

QOTD: Porca De Murca Douro – Come on, for 5 bucks (actually $7) this is ridiculous. Simple fruit, a decent midpalate, and very smooth on the back with well-integrated alcohol and some nice acidity that lends itself to several pieces of Chicago deep dish pizza!

    Great Show!!!

QOTD: I can honestly say I haven’t had a sub $10 much less sub $15 wine in a long time. I am a CKC but I find $15-20 reasonable for a wine. I’m not saying I wouldnt find great wines under $10, but in my past of trying, it is alot harder to find one that stands out in the price region…and if I am going to spend money on a btl of wine, I want the odds of my enjoying it to go up with it.

  • The problem with the sub-10 bottles, for me, is that I buy one bottle – not knowing if it will be any good – but by the time that I drink them and find out they are good, everyone else has made the same discovery and bought up all the supply.

    QOTD
    2006 Heartland Stickleback White – $10
    2006 Altos Las Hormigas Malbec – $10
    2006 Colonia Las Liebres Bonarda – $7
    2005 Trapiche Malbec Oak Cask – $10-11

    Great Show Gary,
10$ bottles of Wine that you want to drink are a little harder to find up here due to the shackles of the BCLS; however, I just picked up the Taja the other day and now look forward to tasting it on the weekend…

QOTD: Ercavio Tempranillo. Great stuff and can’t find it around here anymore.
Wished I would have gotten more.

  • I rock the original wristband.

  • Zinny

QOTD – Pascual Toso, as some have mentioned, is really about the best $10 wine I’ve had in a couple of years although I keep searching for a better one to whip out so I can seem cooler.

The last best one, though, was the 2006 E Guigal Cotes Du Rhone for $9.99.

  • Palmer

QOTD: Henry’s Drive Pillar Box Red from Australia – $8. Jammy and tasty.

2006 – sorry forgot the vintage on the Henry’s Drive Pillar Box Red

  • Antony

Seems I’ve been watching the show so long, not only do I have the flakey wristband, I’ve seen the same wine reviewed twice (Evil). Cheap wine that rocks it – some Nero d’Avola I’ve been on and can’t remember the name of, think the 05 is best.

    Hi Gary…

QOTD easily, easily, the Marques de Casa Concha Merlot…$9.99 from Concha y Toro who only seem to make good quality wine at any price point…

By the way… I LOVE GRAVNER too !!!

  • Palmer

The EVIL Gary tasted on a previous show was the Chardonnay, not the Cab.

Gary- I actually had the Costano last and when I first opened it, the tannins blew me away along with some of the harsher vegetal nose. But hey, it really opened up after a day and the tannins smoothed out and it was strong still but better. After 2 days it died!
