  • Yes, I have my cracked wristband and “always use milk” in my hot chocolate with mush . . . I mean marshmallows.

    Glad to see some

Dude! Nice show. I have an original wrist band (only one I have). Also, I have had a Vinho Verde for 6 bones within the last year. Tres Picos USED to be my fave

It’s been too long! I have been away for a few months and am SO happy to be back! Great show, I tried the Yecla and wasn’t too impressed either.

QOTD: The last under $10 that I really liked (though I’ve had it many times before) was the Santa Rita Cabernet Sav. from Chile it was on sale for $4.99. I usually don’t go THAT low but I’d had it before and it didn’t disappoint, for $5 it really had some nice taste to it, good basic example of a Chilean Cabernet.

Camelot…I believe it was 2005 Cab Sav…on sale at safeway for like $6. I was not horrified, which is what I had been since buying wine at random (because I don’t know anything) at Safeway. I have since begun to pay attention, and this show is a big help. So thanks Gary.

I also just planted (tonight) 3 cab Franc and 3 merlot vines and will plant tommorrow 3 Cab Sav and 3 petite verdot. I am well on my way to becoming a wine mogul. I live in VA though, so that could be a problem.

I am no longer a lurker. toodles

QOTD: Tres Ojos Garnacha Old Vines Calatayud, $8. A little too fruity but acceptable. I’ve had a Vinho Verde within the last few months but it was slightly over the $10 mark. 12-14 months ago I had an under $10 Cono Sur Viogner which was too sweet for me but my friends loved it. I find it harder and harder to buy wines under $10. In my mind, under $10 is a bigger risk than jumping to the $15 bottles. Mental block. Go Sixers. Oops, snuck that in there.

Variety is the spice of life and you certainly give us that. It’s always fun to see what the next episode will bring.
QOTD: Zardetto prosecco, didn’t change my world, but bubbly and hit the spot on a hot Arizona afternoon.

    Correction…it was a 2003 Camelot Cab Sav, and was $8 not $6.

QOTD: Somebody listed 2006 Colonia Las Liebres Bonarda – $7. I like that wine a lot. Had some and bought more. But it was $11 near me, not $7!!

I’m not sure the last time I found a decent bottle of wine for under $10 here in Ann Arbor, damn taxes and crazy Ann Arbor prices.

  • Chippewamike

Chateau St Michelle Riesling and the 2006 Colonia Las Liebres Bonarda

’06 La Vieille Ferme blanc, not bad at all for $7.50.
’04 Terres Dorees Beaujolais blanc, kicked all kinds of ass for about the same price.
Masciarelli Montepulciano comes to mind, but I haven’t actually had one for awhile …

  • QOTD: Snake River Winery Riesling was the last under $10 wine that blew me away- lovely wine from Idaho with German riesling qualities, loved it.

    Gary-

EVIL isn’t doing so hot on WLTV–I think it was the Pure EVIL Chard that you seriously dissed last time around.

QOTD – Most recent winners I’ve had under $10 (both were $9.99 locally in the Tampa market): 2005 KAIKEN Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Argentina) and a 2006 WENTE Riva Ranch Arroyo Seco Chardonnay.

QOTD: Two wines come to mind that are good values and very drinkable to my pallet. 1st is the Columbia Crest Two Vines Cabernet-Merlot and the 2nd is the Jacobs Creek Shiraz.

QOTD: well, I’ve had a lot of great Malbecs lately for under $10 (e.g., Terrazas) and while this next one isn’t the best overall, it has the most riDONCulous QPR: Vina Antigua, from Argentina, a blend of 50% Bonarda and 50% Sangiovese, and costs me $4.99. You just cannot kick as much ass under $8 as the Vina Antigua.
