qotd: a micro brewThe wino in me has to point out that Condrieu isn’t ever a blend, it’s 100% viognier, no marsanne is allowed. (ditto for Chateau-Grillet)

QOTD: My everyday drinker has got to be the 90 Minute Dogfish Head IPA… but that’s just not enough about beer. Close second (and first on many a winter eve, especially) is the Sam Smith Tadcaster Porter .. with the obligatory honourable mention to a pint of the black..

I just love posting about Beer! Where’s Beer Library TV? No spit bucket on that show, for sure, Gary…

A Jersey favorite has to be the River Horse Lager…

And while I mentioned the 90 minute Dogfish Head, anyone who is a fan of IPA’s needs to find a way to sample their 120 minute, which they make once or twice a year.

Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA would definitely be the beer of choice at the moment. Love the show Gary…just discovered it a few weeks ago but great to see guys like you putting wine on a realistic level without all the bullshit. Keep it up my friend. Oh, and I can’t wait to buy the book!

  • Very enjoyable show. Loved how your shell shocked guest started to loosen up after a few tastes of the vino.

QOTD: To be perfectly honest… an ice cold Budweiser is probably the ticket most of the time but I’m always up to try something “better” when it is on tap.

QOTD: Spring and Summer is definitely beer time. I’d say a nice citrusy wheat beer, maybe a Blanche de Bruxelles (Belgium) or the Kronenbourg Blanc (France), which are great on their own on a sunny day and go very well with fish and shellfish.

  • Good show. Good Question.

If it can be found, Berkshire Brewing Company IPA. The search alone for this stuff makes finding it even sweeter.
seek it out, its worth it, anything they (BBC) make is good.

    More Guests please

  • Good one. No real favorite beers anymore. Used to like Haystack Black from Oregon, the Sam Smith line from England (esp. Oatmeal Stout), British Columbia porters and ales.
In today’s ep, I liked where GV – right after he complimented the guest on his shirt – says “It’s bright, polished, elegant, earthy but fruity”.

Great show, I will have to look for the Eppalock Ridge Shiraz 2002.
QOTD: I like alot of hops, so I drink mostly IPA’s, at the moment my IPA
    of choice is Bridgeport’s.

    Gary – Good show.

I noticed your guest mentioned zinfandel. I too jumped on that varietal first and then found myself progressing to shiraz. I wonder if that’s a common occurance you see … is it a normal progression?

QOTD – Three Floyd’s Brewing – I like anything they do. Love the citrus profile in the Alpha King IPA.

Also, are there any Vaniac’s attempting to get a Cleveland book signing together. Let me know through your comment … I’ll get you my email and I’d be glad to assist you. We should do better than Des Moines!

  • Nice show! I’m definitely jealous!

QOTD: Eek! I don’t like beer. But if I do have to drink it, it’d be New Glarus Spotted Cow or (when in France) Desperadoes.

Nice show! The fruit bombs have their place in the rotation. I have two of them on my top 10 under $i0 list. Great Tuesday night, don’t want to spend a fortune but want some wine, wines.

QOTD: The two beers I have a year, whether I need them or not, are a Japanese draft and a German, Warsteiner.
