qotd: Not a big sports fan, but having seen this with my Dad on dvd and hearing it referenced over the years many times, I’m going with the the 1958 National Football League Championship game on December 28th that went into sudden death overtime between the Colts and the Giants. Baltimore took what I’ve heard many times referred to as the single greatest football game ever played.

QOTD – How can I pick one sports moment out of a life time of them? It may have been when I got my first hole in one.

  • Favorite sports moment, besides Randy Savage using the ring bell on Steamboat, is Mark Barvaro catching a pass from Phil Simms and carrying the entire San Fran 49ers defense on his back while running for yardage back in 1986.

Sept. 28 1998, Cubs vs. Giants 1 game playoff, winner goes to the NLDS. Gary Gaetti parks a two run shot and Wrigley goes bonkers!!! Personal sports moment I rushed for 2 TDS and 148 yds for the Maroa-Forsyth (IL) Trojans against the Assumption Comets in absolutely frigid weather, didn’t feel any cold that day.

  • Tom T.

Good episode. Will try the Martinetti. QOTD – 1986 world series game 6 when Mookie’s ground ball went through Bill Buckner’s legs. Another favorite is 1994 when the NYR won the Stanley Cup. And how about “Matteau Matteau Matteau”.

Okay, at the risk of sounding like one of those old farts that we all know about, I’ll admit that I watched Don Larsen pitch a perfect game (on TV) in the 1956 World Series. I had stayed home from school, and about the 6th inning, the announcers were starting to talk about how, still, no one had gotten on base. Even though I was young, when it was over, I realized the significance of witnessing something that had never been seen beforeâ??â??a perfect game in the World Series.

QOTD: Not really a big sports fan but love just about any moment watching women’s beach volleyball!!!!!!! Love the uniforms and when the defense is in their stance waiting for the serve!!!!!!

Can’t wait to try a Gavi wine! Gonna get one tomorrow!!!

The thirteen-inning one game wildcard playoff that got the Rockies into the Playoffs last year! Watched it at the local Irish pub with all of my friends… we all thought it would be an early night, but EVERYONE stayed til the end. So frickin exciting! Definitely the best game of any sport that I have ever watched!!

  • Whatz up with the weird Cabernet episode? I for one don’t even really care about blind tastings.
Oh, it was very exciting for me as a Boston sports fan when the Patriots won their 1st Super Bowl in 2002. I remember my daughter and I running around screaming like lunatics and sort of thanking the Gods.
Did someone say Bill Buckner? (twitching)

QOTD: My favorite sports moment was going to the ’06 Torino Winter Olympics with my friends, and as silly as it sounds, seeing a women’s curling event, with the U.S. and Switzerland tied until the very end and on the ice about 10 rows from where we were sitting. It was the Olympics, it really could have gone to anything and it still would have been amazing.

QOTD – Isaiah Thomas sprained ankle/superhuman fourth quarter in the first Pistons/Lakers finals back in 88, even in a losing effort…if only the current team could have borrowed a little bit of that ferocity and will.

Runner up – same series, game before when, with pre-insane Rodman guarding Magic the Bad Boys almost shut LA out in overtime. It’s been awhile so I might have the chronology wrong, but it did all happen. Those were the days.

I hope you unveil the 6 Cabernet’s on Monday, otherwise its like we all wasted 17 minutes and 8 seconds of our lives on nothing (the length of episode #477).
QOTD: The past several weeks watching my two sons play in Little League playoffs.

Have to try the Gavi. Fave sports moment was watching Mike Tyson biting off the ear of Holyfield only because I had to watch the tape of it later that night after my girlfriend made me go to a lame wedding

  • Most Roy Jones Jr. fights pre 2004.
