    Great show, great cause!

Q-Sharing a bottle with my dad is always pretty great.

  • Lindsey

Great guest. Great show. I´m going to keep an eye out for some Two Brothers or Big Tattoo here in Spain.

QOTD: My parents recently came to visit me here and a close friend of mine who is a winemaker in Ribera del Duero took us on a tour of the area and of his own bodega – Viña Val de Mazón. It was great to be able to take them through the vineyards, taste barrel samples, and see them so enthused about the wine.

  • Yes, I dig the groovy fleur d’lis label, originally born from a tattoo (WAY cool). And the big-time worthy cause the bros. are funding. Even if the wine is shlock in a bottle you’ve got good stuff going for it right from the get-go. Will check this red out and maybe write on it at examiner.com. And I’m terribly sorry to say this, I find it depressing to see Gary sporting a wedding band. You should be MINE!!!

There have been several great experiences with my parents and my girlfriend. The best for me was probably drinking 1995 Krug on my dad’s 60th birthday. It was one of the best wines I’ve had and a great time overall.

QOTD – Best wine experience for me was with my wife at a sidewalk cafe in Rome on our dream vacation drinking a special Montefalco wine. It was a very special moment for us and a wonderful wine.

It’s also what brought us to you. I accidentally browsed by you on the show you did a while back on Montefalco wines. I was having difficulty locating this variety wine and there you were. I bought it from WLTV and have watched you ever since. I’ve never known someone with a pallet match so close to mine. So far, if it’s a wine you really like, my wife and I have really liked it. So we’re growing with you.

So stay true to your Pal, because you’re taking us along with you…..thx

QOTD: During a summer in grad school, I worked at a winery in Sonoma County. When the summer was over, my mom came out to drive back home w/ me (to the Midwest). For 2 days before the big drive, I was able to show her around the winery where I’d worked and take her to some of my favorite tasting rooms. It was fun to teach her a few things, and to see her enjoy learning about wine and experiencing new tastes.

QOTD: I was with my two best friends (like a brother and sister to me) and their spouses at the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellers, at a little table in the garden, and the day was beautiful, the wine was beautiful, the wine snobs were too busy inside the winery itself trying to outdo each other and impress each other with talk of their collections, that we were all alone outside, in the sunny garden in the shade of some ancient trees. One of my friends was pregnant, and so for the rest of us, the wine flowed while she was joining in with water. It was one of the moments that was utterly perfect. That whole trip to Napa was great, but this moment stood out as the best.

  • Saftig (which I think is from Norway???:-D said it, a real feel-good episode today!

QOTD; When my mother and I our first argument yesterday about a Valpolicella wine, and the taste. It all ended with her saying she loved me, but that she, as the older person AND my mom, was right.

  • Roger in Omaha

My wife and I love to visit the local winery events where they have live jazz or blues. The very first one we went to at Cuthill winery was such a blast that it really got the juices flowing to learn more about wine and find more fun wine festivals.

This is a great thing you’re doing! The donations to breast cancer research hits close to home. Thanks Two Brothers! And kudos to WLTV for getting involved. I’m going to look for a bottle or two right away!

QOTD: I live in Ohio and my brother lives in Seattle. Once a year he visits and we have a big wine party at my house for a group of good friends – lots of fabulous wine, really good food, and hours of fun. I love it!

QOTD: My wife and my first big Thanksgiving dinner for my family. Went to local wine retailer in Chicago who, based on what we were making for Thanksgiving, gave us four wines that knocked the meal out of the park! Still talking about that meal, close to 15 years later.

Great show, great cause…. in fact it’s spurring me on to put together a new order.

QOTD: Best wine memory with a family member…. (props to GV for suggesting this), but my best time was last Christmas when I got one of the WL gift 4-packs of French wine. My son, Adam, is 20 and was really pumped to sample the wine with Mom and Dad. We’ve always made wine accessible to our kids when they were young but now Adam is an adult and it was fantastic to have him sit there and really get into the wine with us. Thrilled to have him come into the wine fold.

My dad was an anti-wine-snob. “Wine over twenty dollars a bottle starts to taste bad,” he used to say. He would comb the local BevMo and find closeouts and even leave the orange price tag on the bottle to prove he didn’t pay retail. One time he brought over a Bouchaine Pinot that was really good. I guess my point is it isn’t the quality of the wine, but rather the quality of people around the table. Miss you dad.

Alex and Gary (and Erik), you guys are bringing serious thunder!! What an amazing thing you’re doing! You can count on me to buy some 2 brothers wine for sure! Best of luck!

PS- Gary, I’m bummed you couldn’t make it to the Pass-It-Along charity event wine tasting this past weekend at Perona Farms. It was a great event for a great cause and Wine Library did an outstanding job! Hope to see you there next year! http://www.passitalong.org/

If we were all to take a little of what we have, like Two Brothers, and share it with people who really need it, it would transform the world. Gary, you were right on to showcase, and yea, act as a cool interviewer, something good and something real. It was a great show!

My daughter and I have grown a lot closer by tasting some of the wines from you have suggested on the show. She will come by and ask, “Hey, did Gary review that one?” She’s now sharing what she learns with her husband to be. It’s neat to share and grow with your family. Thanks!!

    Hei Gary,
Nice show and guest. Looking forward to 500th in SF, Crushpad 5th anniversary, and 8/9 vayniac tasting @ crushpad.
While you’re talking about charity type wines, you should know about
Ehlers Estate (if you don’t already). All profits go to cardiovascular research! And they make some really nice wines – cabs, merlot, sauv blanc,
cab franc and your own – petite verdot with a high end 1886. Unfortunately,
I see there prices have gone up recently after rechecking the website. http://www.ehlersestate.com/
Might be an idea or two for you there on tasting or featuring.
Glad to see that things continue to go well for you & the Larger Family.

QOTD – Enjoying a bottle of Tokaji Aszu with my parents, appreciating its wondeful flavour and also that it is made in my fathers home country.
