    1st & 2nd gen.
Drinking any white out there. Greek, Bulgaria, Chile, Cal,
Italy, Spain, France Germany, Wash, Ore, whatever. Next some reds from same.
Weekends, tastings with the wine babes downtown and whatever they come up with, followed by Margaritas and a little primo blue agave.

  • Askold Shegedyn

Nice episode Gary. You should include the Girard Petite Syrah next time.
I am drinking Chateau Tour Grise Saumur 2004. It rocks. Hope you will carry the 2005 since I read it was very nice in the French press.

  • I’m drinking a lot more old world stuff than I ever have before. I live in Oregon and I grew up developing a California palatte. I was a bit of a late comer to appreciating Oregon Pinots (Noir and Gris!). But guess who turned me on to new areas (to me) like the Languedoc and Provence and the Ventoux???? And I just ordered a second case of a Rioja that I like. Thanks Gary!

Oh, and a lot of New Zealand sauvignon blancs have found their way into my glass too lately.

QOTD: Ok – so I can’t say beer because i drink and love most of them and you asked for specifics on the bubbly. I have to say that i’ve kicked my Gin and Tonics (my favorite non beer/wine drink) up to the next level by using Bombay Saphire and Qtonic. That tonic makes the difference and is leagues above seagrams or canada dry.

  • cxgirl

QOTD: Anything in a bottle! But I’m really looking forward to trying the Cote du Ventoux I just bought. And the Malbec. Trying all kinds of new stuff. Thanks GV!

  • Would you believe the Rosenblum wine is $35 up here in Canada? 90+ points, $35…not so much to get excited about?

QOTD: It’s been hot. 2007 Chateau de Lancyre Rose. And I’ve been exploring the wines of Fronsac. And affordable grand cru Alsace wines too.

Nice. I have always enjoyed the Rosenblum Heritage Clones. It is a great way to get introduced to the grape. QOTD – I have been drinking the Drouhin Oregon Pinot Noir. Amazing juice and has one foot in the Old World but definitely a New World wine. GV you should try this juice. An easy 91-92 pter.

Interesting show…How about PS from outside Cali? Recently I had a wonderful bottle of Chateau Musar 98 that smoked the 2000 Carruades de Lafite (which was twice the price of the Musar) in a blind taste.. I also have been drinking a lot of other Lebanese wines (Ch. Kefraya Comte De M is a favorite and in the Musar’s league, while Chateau St-Thomas and Ch. Nakad are real QPRs). I also tried recently a delicious Canadian Gewurz from BC with a cool name of “Dirty Laundary”. Cheers

  • GalvezGuy

Laposte….. Domaine de Pouy rocks!!!! One of my favorite cheap summer sippers.

nice show on some qpr’s! I’m always amazed at the value in the Bogle Petite syrah! It’s such a mass produced wine but it still kicks!

  • JamesConley

qotd: tonight I am going head to head with a friend. my favorite wine this month a 2005 Charbonniere Vacqueyras head to head vs. a 2005 PAX Griffins Lair Syrah: I am trying to expand his pal and get him past all the kick you in the balls over the top Jam on pepper on jam Cali cults syrahs. So it is French elegance and value vs. Cali hype… for the record the Vacqueyras is less than half the price as well. (and I dont need to be on the mailing list to get it)
