Really great show. Difficult to find a great variety of Oregon wines in Canada. Need to go there.

QOTD: If I had it my way, work in the world of wines. Thinking ’bout it every day while listening to WLTV episodes.

Thanks for having Willamette Valley wines …. They are awesome and different with variety.
QOTD— It would be “all the way” Keep it Real.

  • If I had it my way it would be with Niagara wines watching the Bills against the Jets Nov.2nd, 2008 and then again with some LI wines on Dec. 14th.

  • Holy crap Gary, you dissed me HARD in Portland! Knowing that you’d be busy while here, I emailed you a week in advance asking if you wanted to go out to a wine bar with some people while you were here, and you said yes, definitely. This after we’ve exchanged occasional emails over the last two years talking about getting a drink when you’re in Portland… Then while you were here I @garyvee’d you several nights on twitter asking when you wanted to get together and you said you were too tired… then the night of the signing after introducing myself I asked if you wanted to go get that drink we talked about and you said you had no time since you had a flight to catch… Instead of pushing the issue I just respected your decline, and went to meet some closet Vayniacs out for a drink who were waiting for you to show (since you told me you would, I set the expectation with others)… all the while you were setting something else up with someone who just ran up to you in the parking lot immediately after you and I spoke. I feel so cheated on. 😉 Seriously though, that is probably the biggest thing that irks me… when someone says they’re going to do something and I set some plans up only for them to cancel at the end (and especially since you did wind up going out anyway with someone who was a bit more aggressive). Sounds like I should have just been a bit more aggressive, but that’s not my style… if you didn’t want to hang out then that’s your prerogative. It’s just weak that we had actually talked about something and you wind up doing something similar at the last minute after offering me an excuse (that apparently wasn’t the real reason since you had time for a whole meal). Anyway, I’ll set my expectations appropriately next time…

Le Pigeon and Paley’s Place are both amazing!

The previews have nothing to do with the movie you’re about to watch, so they aren’t nearly as critical as the nose is to the wine.

I’ve heard good things about the Four Graces, and it seems unlike some other varietals, you and I seem to really agree on Pinot Noirs, so I’ll have to check out this Four Graces action. Though speaking of $20 Pinot Noirs from Oregon that aren’t bullcrap, check out Ayres. One of the best Oregon Pinots I’ve had for $20.

I had a bottle of the Boedecker Stewart sitting at home when you tasted it, so I ran home and popped (ok, unscrewed) it… immediately after that I got on the horn with Athena Pappas and picked up a few cases at her house for myself and a friend with a retail shop in Washington. She said she had about 165 cases left when I spoke with her, and it was 100% sold out in just a couple days after your show. Nice work! Here’s my note:

7/2/2008 rated 92 points: Lots of toasty oak on the nose, along with some dried pine cone and raspberry wound up with licorice. There’s also this nice aroma of cherries covered in truffle salt with just a dash of black pepper. Very beautiful aromas, and what I seek in an Oregon Pinot. Beautiful in the mouth, showing tons of that truffle salt covered cherry. Finish isn’t quite as intriguing as the sniff, but tasty never the less, mainly showing toasted cherry and the raspberry licorice. A beautiful wine, blending perfectly new world Pinot and Burgundian class, and a steal at $30.

    QOTD: beautifully

If you’re referring to canela, canela en polvo is the powdered cinnamon and canela en rama is the stick cinnamon.
Nice to have some interaction and added feedback on the wines.
QOTD: I would like everyone to have access to affordable quality healthcare.

  • Great show, Gary. Living here in Portland and just getting into wine, I’ve been looking for a primer like this online for while so I’ll have a better idea what to look for/avoid at the store.

I *really* liked the addition of Leif to the show. If he sticks around NYC maybe you’d have him on with you more regularly?

    Thanks again.

Bought a couple bottles of the Boedecker. Haven’t tried them yet–been drinking up a lot of summer whites. Looking forward to the Boedecker though.
Nice to have someone else’s opinion once in a while, though you are usually all we need. Loved the “polite cow” reference.

QOTD: Burger King?? Too general, but since this show is mostly?? about wine and a little bit of football, I’ll take it in the wine direction. Drinking a wide variety of wine, paired with food, in a beautiful atmosphere, including music, surrounded with people and pets whom you love. Is that too much to ask for????

Great show, Gary! I enjoyed the back-and-forth commentary between you and your guest. And someone gave me a bottle of the Four Graces Pinot Noir so now I am quite curious to try it.

QOTD: QUALITY – everyone, every business should emphasize QUALITY FIRST and then worry about the buzz and being more efficient.

I have Boedecker wines in my Wine Library Wish List Shopping Cart but I haven’t ordered. Some day I will be a Wine Library customer.

I’m a fan of Chehalem Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. I’ll have to find their Riesling.

QOTD: If I could have it my way, I would allow Michigan residents to purchase wine from out state and have it shipped to them 😉

Grow the hair – you are not 12 anymore. smile. Like you in shirts, not t-shirts – a little more respect!
GREAT SHOW! Liked the guest. Polite poop was hilarious!

Did someone answer that phone? haha. Oh, great, they put me on hold!

As far as the 2nd bucket for the guest – no. make them swallow!

BRING ON THE SECRET PACKS! I love them!

QOTD: Have it my way – I’d double the pickles and left off the mustard.

Hi Gary and Leif… thought you guys made a good team, Gary you should have him over once a month at least, great show… Coincidentally, I bought a couple of cases of Boedecker after that show a while back and had some on Friday, Sept. 5th (Karen’s B Day)… we all thought it was absolutely fantastic (blind tasted it against others, came in first by a LOT)…

    thanks, great show.

QOTD: I would have all my loved ones and all my friends live in my house so we could enjoy life together in a never/ending party…

I was a fortunate one to grab a few bottles of the Boedecker Pinot. Great recommendation. They did not last long in my house.

If I could have it my way: medium rare
