QOTD: 2003 Mersault “Les Gruyaches” by Jean Philippe Fichet – excellent…very complex nose of butterscotch and spices with beautiful color and a super long finish. A real find from this hot vintage!

Glad to see your being rational about monday’s score…the chargers are the best team in football with an 0-2 record…and lets not forget about last years NY Giants who started out 0-2!

The Chris Webber time-out was funny. My husband and I were in Hawaii during that infamous moment, 1993, right. Thanks for the LOL moment.

I am a big fan of white wines, but it makes me so sad when they are over oaked, so thank you for showing some off that are not =D Good show Gary.

I love it when you dump wine. It makes me giggle like a school girl knowing how many viewers are screaming “Nooooooooooooo” (myself included)… even bad wine is worth drinking (CKC’s back me up).
QOTD: Still in love with New Hope PA’s 06 Chard.

  • hmmm…. did he call that wine a “bitch?” what a rockstar.
I go for my $14 J.Lohr chard when it’s on sale. One: super drinkable while maintaining some complexities that keep the wine fun. Two: price is right.

Enjoy San Diego – go check out Chez Loma in Coronado. A little hometown favorite.

Great show Gary, I’m gonna run out and pick up one those two…probably the 3rd one…I’m convinced that people think drinking Red Wine only makes you a “serious” wine drinker and drinking White Wines is for rookies….I lean towards Red’s typically but I tell you what, there are some absolutely amazing white’s to be had, this show proves it! Thanks again.

  • Good show. New wristband? When can I get one?

QOTD: Recently, the Koehler that you reviewed in your book gives me goosebumps and is an amazing bottle of chardonnay. A year or so ago I was into the Devil’s Lair from Australia. Another great chard.

    Cheers!

The wrist bands made their first appearance on Ustream a bit ago when Gary was giving stuff out like crazy. The Ustream stuff is a ton of fun.

  • Yo Gary Veeeeeeeee!!

    C’mon man, have a little faith! Chargers 27 – Jets 24 in a heartbreaker…..!

Really liked seeing some decent chards on the show today. Never heard of that area. I guess I am too hooked on Walla Walla and the Russian River Valley…..

QOTD – This may sound like I am a complete novice at all of this, but my favorite chardonnay I have been drinking lately is the 2005 Belvedere Headsburg Ranches Chardonnay! It has a fair amount of oak on it, but it has absolutely huge peach, pear, and grapefruit components, sprinkled with a touch of orange zest. A big, creamy, slightly oaked out California chard with nice acids. Simply tasty stuff. Sadly (for me, anyway…), Belvedere was replaced with C. Conatiello Winery (Russian River Valley), which is now a higher end pinot and chard house. They rock as well, but this little chard, which was priced at about $13, is still one of my favorites. When Belvedere was making the change to C. Donatiello and clearing out their remaining inventory, I bought 2 cases of this stuff for less than $6 a bottle !!! (Thanks to Robert Conard at Belvedere/C. Donatiello for being a great friend and letting me in on a killer deal!). Cheers!

The most passionate wine show in the world! That’s what I have to say.

I have not been drinking much Chard, but I must say, lately I’ve been enjoying Primula Catarratto by Firriato in Sicilia 2007. Good fruit (citrus), a nice oily, yet mineral component to this bianco wine from Italy.

    WLTV rocks!
