  • QOTD: I don’t buy wine over $13. I guess I’m part of the CKC cuz I’m still in school, but it’s grad school! I make less than if I worked at McDonalds!! And I’m past the age of asking the rents for $$. (well sorta!) Anyways, since I buy all cheap wine, all the wines I drink are relevant. So I would steer you in the direction of my wine journal here.
    http://corkd.com/people/theemptyglass/journal
And you can see lots of wines I would recommend.
    =)

Didn’t like the Parker wine – LOL! Parker’s rating are crap. Thanks god for Gary V; there’s at least one wine critic I can trust.

Love the *keeping it real* shows.

QOTD: ’02 Desert Hills Red. A nice WA state blend in found for under 10 bones. I’ve had plenty of $20+ wines that would get creamed by this one.

With the economy so bad I’d love for you to get Cramer back on! I’d love to hear him answer your questions on it in a more casual environment than his wild show.

We’ve been enjoying the 2005 Bodegas Lozano Rojo Mojo Shiraz ($6.99 in Cleveland, OH). It’s a Jay Miller 86 and marketed here by the good folks at the Well Oiled Wine Company, who’ve got some KILLER Spanish wines.

QOTD: We’re working our way through a case of Zuccardi Fuzion Shiraz-Malbec from Argentina. Good value for CDN$7.45. But my favourite over the past 6 months or so is a 2002 Sogrape Vila Regia Reserve Douro for CDN$11.85. Nice and smooth, thanks in large part to the age.

I hope you keep going until you find 10 good inexpensives wines, even if they’re all whites.
QOTD: I like Domaine Tariquet whites – under $10.00: chenin chardonnay, ugni blanc, and some others

  • QOTD: 2007 Le Bois Jacou Gamay, Jean Francois Merieau, Touraine, Loire Valley, delightful wine, about $12, 12% alc, Jon David Headrick importer. Plus a stunning label to boot, reminds me of red coral.

A very good episode, with important impications.

Two to speak of. Becker (a Texas wine) 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon, $8.39 at Costco and Barco Negro (Portugal) red Duoro, $9.99 at Costco.

Love the baseball and basketball cards, keep it coming.

nice! i’m always looking for a good deal, especially the past phew weeks! I got a great bottle of Bogle Petite Sirah last week that only set me back 12 bucks. It’s a little more fruity than my usual tastes, but I really thought it was a very good bottle.
    Cheers!!

  • Da Mottster!!!!!

You should have Mott jump in more often….except when he does, he should actually have something to say. Mott Library TV….now that’s an idea..!!!!!

You kept freezing right at the QOTD so I have no clue what it is.

    Have a great weekend brother!!!!!

  • Hey Gary! I’ve always enjoyed your site… but just wanted to say that your quote at the Media Bistro event about content being king and marketing being queen was brilliant. As a former Publicist, I fully concur! Keep up the awesome work here! 🙂

Nice show, Gary, but I’m still depressed. I figure I am now not ten years from retirement but more like 25 years or never. Geez!

QOTD: A Spanish red called Valderiz or something like that. I think it is from Ribera del Duero.
