line of the day – ‘grandma in the kitchen with her mayonnaise face’

Really interesting episode that highlights how much wines can change when paired with food. This is a landmark show for me as I think it was the first one I ever saw. I watched a few after this one but then went back to the beginning of the archive and have just caught up to where it all started. Still loads to see, which is great, but not sure what I’m going to do for kicks when I get to the end!

    qotd…… lindt 70% & black toblerone

Gary mate, i don’t know why on earth you still keep on rating aussie wines like this one….. this is seriously giving bad image to the country…. seems you lost your touch on choosing aussie wines, maybe as you said you may want to go other regions like margaret river, padthaway, clare valley, eden valley, STOP going to mclaren vale for next 6 episodes….. ok??

if you can get your hands on a bottle of Radford Shiraz from eden valley, it may change your view a little….. all the best

  • Great show as always!
My all times favourite chocolate is milk chocolate and brownies. This is a chocolate that I could only find in Switzerland. Too bad!

Interesting results, fun to watch. My fiancee just watched for the first time. She doesn’t drink wine (or anything…I make up for it!) She is a chocolate lover, and is quite into high end chocolates. So, I will answer for myself, and then she will answer separately.

CBone QOTD: I enjoy Michel Cluizel single source chocolate from the Los Ancones premier cru de plantaion on the island of Santo Domingo. Amadei chololates are also delicious.

N QOTD: I love Michel Cluizel single source chocolate from the Vila Gracinda premier cru de plantation, on the island of Sao Tome. For more available chocolates, I like Ferraro Rocher.

  • Gary … You dog … Love the enerRrgy, did the WLTv concept, but the facts, man, come on ! As a ‘wine educator’ you should be more careful with how you promote ‘truth’ and ‘facts’ in yer show … Grenache (France) or Garnacha (Spain) or Cannonau (Italy) – all the same grape, mind you – is not the world’s most planted variety. That honor is reserved by the AIREN grape, a green grape planted largely in the Meseta of Central Spain and used primarily for distillation into brandy, although some Airen is made into innocuous still white wine for the local market … Merlot is largely considered the second most planted variety in the world … Grenache? One of the top three? Top five? Maybe … but more than likely somewhere in the top ten … just trying to keep it realistic … Cheers

QOTD: Crunch bars. We always used to go bowling as a family when I was little. We must have gone like once a week. And each time we went, my Dad would always buy me a Crunch bar. There are many things that are better quality that I like, but nothing can beat the Crunch bar for nostalgia.

QOTD: One to mention is Marabou’s DAIM From Sweden! As funny it may seem, you can get it from Ikea, but that doesn’t mean it’s an Ikea brand. It’s because it’s swedish. This is by far my favorite chocolate!

I chose a Copain Syrah over a Copain Grenache Mourvedre for Dinner tonight, but there’ll be no chocolate tonight anyway because I bought two Lindt milk chocolate bars to cover strawberries and the chocolate bars just disappeared. I’m off chocolate for the most part, (just the occasional brownie or chocolate chip cookie) so it wasn’t me. I usually get blocks of Callebaut when I dip strawberries and I wish I would have done so. But the main dessert tonight is lemon pudding cake mousse and naked strawberries will be fine with it. I don’t know what we’ll be drinking by the time we get to dessert. We probably should save some pinot grigio.
