line of the day – ‘grandma in the kitchen with her mayonnaise face’

Really interesting episode that highlights how much wines can change when paired with food. This is a landmark show for me as I think it was the first one I ever saw. I watched a few after this one but then went back to the beginning of the archive and have just caught up to where it all started. Still loads to see, which is great, but not sure what I’m going to do for kicks when I get to the end!

I really wanted the Chat des Tourettes to work well! LOL.

QOTD: Hard to choose, as a chocolate lover. I could say dark chocolate truffles from Ladurees in Paris though.

I will need 2 seek out some Grenache then, i do agree with you n aussie wines, they are way to alcoholic and dont give me much taste.

    QOTD: “Lindt Lindor”, simply devine

good show GV. love me some grenache

ex-Lurkdawg: i believe in this scenario it says vin de pays du vaucluse. a region in southern france not known for it’s grenache based wines. vin de pays means ‘wine of the country’ and a designation given when it’s a varietal not normally from that region. and GV it’s not vin it’s pronounced “van”.

    keep up the good work

QOTD: A toss-up between the more “everyday” Nutella & the cayenne/dark chocolate truffles from Jean Paul Hevin…but ordering from Paris is, sadly, not something I do with great frequency.

  • Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

QOTD: Schokinag drinking chocolate. If you have not experienced this, you should do so. Warning: You’ll probably never want to drink Ghirardelli again.

  • QOTD – I really like Scharffen Berger 70% Bittersweet. Almost too much of a good thing, it walks a fine line between fruity, chocolaty goodness and being over-the-top.

I normally only drink Grenache as part of red Rhone blends, but I may have to start trying some varietals as an alternative to the Pinot that I love.

Gary…I can’t believe it. Whatchamacallit bar is also my favorite chocolate bar…though I haven’t had it in years since they don’t really sell it down here in California too much.

Stumbled upon your show while looking up a Malbec from Chile called Infinito. Was going to pair it with sushi but decided to have roasted chicken with rice and beans instead. I’m sure the wine wouldn’t match either but what the heck. I am a newbie and a “sidelines’ fan of wines. You make it fun and interesting and your everyday man’s approach to wine review is hilarious . I will continue to watch your show and hope to impress the ladies with a little knowledge of fine wines. Thanks and good luck with Jets now that Brett Farvre has retired AGAIN.
