line of the day – ‘there’s a baby oak monster brewing in here’

Solid episode, I like the camera facing the opposite way, plenty of Jets memorabilia to enjoy

Congrats on your 3rd anniversary! Your enthusiasm for wine is infectious, and you motivate me [and, I imagine, many, many other Vaniacs] to try wines that are new to me. Drank my first Cotes du Rhone last week and loved it. Your shows are fun and informative, and I don’t get that from many other sources – on any topic. I hope you will keep this up for a very long time to come. I will keep watching.

I hope you will do a tasting of Ken Wright Cellars Pinot Noir, from the Willamette Valley.

I was just going through some old episodes and I would have to say that I also really liked 604 when you *tried* (keyword) to eat 22 yr old bubble gum 😀

QOTD: so many moments, so little space
The 1st one I watched: Two Buck Vaynerchuk>I made several of the girls come into office to watch you absolutely rip a couple of them. LOL funnnnnyyyy. You actually got rid of a tasting glass.
But…Charles Smith, Jancis Robinson, Randall Graham, your father, Mott telling YOU to link it up, the one w/ you freezing & the glass slid off —-but you caught it w/out missing a beat, the knitting girl, college humor, the 92 Pommard guy. I could go on. The time you brought your friend on to go over old times.
    baseball cards.

I went to a tasting (will leave wine anonymous due to fact I love those guys).
The “Oak Monster” made an appearance. WLTV has invaded my life.
All I could think was “I wonder if Gary would do the oak monster growl on this one”
Carmel Cherry candy. I loved the aromatics. The wine-not so much. All oak, then tannins on the finish. Not horrible, but- well- over-worked. trying to hard.

I’ve only been watching for a month or so and I’m hooked. I’ve been trying to catch up and watch all 3 frickin years in three weeks. My best moment may have been tonight. I introduced my wine buddy to you and he got totally sucked in. By the time you got to the big Aussie cabish thang he was saying write this down, we gotta have this wine. CLLLasic! Congrats on three years, and MANY more!

  • Thanks so much for all you do. I’ve been with you guys for about a year now. I clicked on the link from Lenndeavours and have been watching ever since. I also enjoyed meeting you at the Costco in Edison for the book signing (by the way, if we ever touch base again I have to tell you a story about what happened to me after you signed the book and I was leaving the store. It’s truly brutal and humiliating!)

QOTD: Hendrick was my all time favorite guest so far…but my favorite episode had to be when you did the blind tasting and one of your wines was the winner. Can you say controversial? I loved it, and you handled it like a pro.

Geeze Gary. Your asking me to choose favorite shows?
    Ok.
Maybe, but just maybe the one where you were doing (I think) cabs. After a couple of them fell on their face, one wine that was made by a community collage in the midwest, blew your mind. It was not only great to see and hear your reaction, but also witness the fact that a little bit of love and hard work can produce a fine wine that not only stood up to the big boys, but surpassed them.

Crazy! Watch this eposide from 8:15 and watch the bottle of wine on the left move with no-one touching it. WLTV is haunted!

Congratulations, Gary. It’s a huge accomplishment. You’re following (actually, forging) your own path while staying true to your passion and your family heritage, and combining fun and success. Not an easy task.

    Favorite shows by format —
Guest spots, especially when the chemistry is right, and the unique perspective and information come through.
Blind tastings: I love the “suspense” and the removal of the taint of label-bias.

Best moment — your birthday shout-out to me last year. Great writing from my wife and great delivery from you.

    Keep it coming!

Well done, and happy anniversary! 3 years and counting!

QOTD: My fiancee has an adorable soft voice that is made even cuter by her blended American / Sri Lankan accent, her sweet disposition and the sheen of proper formality that comes from her country of birth. Well, one of my chief joys is getting her to say ridiculous things in conversation that she normally might not otherwise say, because the way she says things is just so darn cute. When she occasionally asks about winelibrary tv, and if I had watched it that day, it really makes me smile, because the words “The Thunder Show”, coming from her, is ridiculous!

qotd: i have to say i’m partial to the jim cramer episode. i thought the combination might be a bit dangerous, but i love his show and yours too, and it meshed well.

Great to see you get to 3 years of this wonderful show. I have watched since around number 280 and don’t think I’ve missed an episode since.

Favourite format for me is often when Gary is ‘on the road’ and we get the benefit of Gary’s knowledge and personality, plus the interest of having a guest on the show, plus an interesting location such as around episodes 368 – 70 when Gary did his mini-NYC tour. And the Scotch Whisky episode was great too!

    Alastair in Edinburgh.

QOTD: I have watched the show since ep ~63. You know you(you not me) have made it when your show has become a staple event each night for my wife and me. Basically I started to enjoy wine when I started watching WLTV. I have learned so much from the show and interacting on the board. Thank you so much, GV. Your passion has really impacted our lives over the last 3 yrs.
