line of the day (by guest) – ‘if you are eating pizza and you’re not drinking Barbera, you’re an imbecile’

No fault of the guest but his quiet voice is not picked up too well by the microphone (Mott’s fault!). Shame ‘cos he’s got a good story to tell.

that list is sick. Im going to use that as a guide next time i hit up the wine store. By the way loved the Z.Cav drop and including the rolling of the paint leg. Also dont forget you cant be cool if you did not rock IOU, Skidz, Hypercolors, Cross Colours, and Starter Jerseys!!

  • Shop talk. Almost like listening to two doctors discussing work. You sort of understand WTH is going on, but not really. One thing is certain, you listen long enough, and you are like “Wow, I am in good hands, these guys know their stuff”. And then you just zonk out and trust them with the outcome. And obviously, part 2 will be well anticipated.

Cool episode. I’ve been really enjoying some of the lesser-known white burgundies in the past year. Haven’t had a St. Aubin yet though.

Looks like you two are having a lot of fun. You sound like good friends just shootin’ the shit. I like the laid back atmosphere. Robert Bohr is not a bore! He knows his stuff (despite his hang-over and the limited 9 cell brain). I like hearing peoples’ stories about how they got to where they are.

I always find wines in restaurants ridiculously priced. I don’t know about how it is in the States, but here in Québec, your talking double the retail price.

I’m going to have to watch the St. Aubin show again (and have a taste of one).

Looking forward to that BAROLO show 😉 and part two of this episode.

    Ciao!

Being in the business this could be one of my top 5 shows. Gary constanly bringing different thunder. Much appreciated. And yes, quite a sick list. Will make the jouney.

great show so far. Great mention of Danny Meyer, the man is brilliant, his book should be a must read for anyone in the restaurant business, especially management and owners.

  • That was a great visit.
I liked the Grammercy Tavern/Danny Meyer stuff as I had a memorable
    double-date there summer ’97.
Love the idea of a Saturday show (I recall the previous one).

Finally a guest who has an interesting perspective on wine with a strong background and isn’t shy around you Gary. I see how it is; get the smart guest on when he’s hung-over so he’ll be easier to push around. Just kidding, but not really…

Now that I know you’re actually reading the comments, I’ll hop back on the commenting bandwagon.
