Good old GV coming through like a trooper from his own kitchen. Short episode but fun to see what’s in the fridge and what he’s drinking at home. Shocking to find out that in two days he’d only drunk less than half a bottle, and if this is what he is drinking at home why spit it out? Puzzling

I’m a big fan of Cap’n Crunch also, but Fruit Loops is probably superior.

QUOD: Not currently drinking a wine, but the last one was a wine from the Rioja. Don’t remember the specifics, I have since discarded the bottle.

What’s with the spitting at home??

QOTD: I’m on my third day, too! 2005 Barrel 27 Wine Company Syrah Head Honcho. Loving it! 92

    Top 10…

Dude… you worry about the BACON hurting your cholesterol? How about all those EGGS!!! What you have in your fridge is more than I eat in a decade!

    Nice Bordeaux.. still a right-bank fan though…

    QOTD: just finished a 2006 Turley Juvenile…

  • Andy & Edie from MT

We are currently drinking the 2006 Beringer Alluvium Blanc which is really quite good and a terrific seafood wine. Nice short episode, my only complaint is how can you stand to have that cupboard door open? We always have to have cupboard doors closed unless you are in them, even if only for a minute. Does anyone else have an obsession with this?

QOTD: Aquafina bottled water…I know but, it’s the truth.

  • MattUD

Nice little episode, the short ones are nice once in a while.

Spitting it out at home? Was that wine a 89 or 59?

Love the home “look ins”, it really brings a more personal atmosphere.

    QOTD:2006 Hayman & Hill Meritage.

  • John Farrin

QOTD: Just finished a 2006 Loma Gorda from yesterday better the first day).

Ah Gary, this was the ep that you said would be up in an hour or so (8:30PM or so)TUESDAY! Slacker, don’t think I’m not keeping track of the ep’s that you owe us 🙂

  • Nice Gary, keep it real.. QOTD: Scotch actually, Macallan cask strength – It’s delicious, also drink it out of a stemless glass

  • HeyClyde

Good behind the scenes episodes. Always changin’ it up…good stuff.

QOTD: Just got back from a lunch/wine tasting at King Estate here in Oregon. Loved the ’05 Viognier. Didn’t bring any home this time so, thats the best I can do.

  • Love this format. Half WLTV, half Cribs.

QOTD: Nothing open at the moment. Always going back and forth between beer and wine.

QOTD: Clova Quintay 2007 Sauv Blanc. Nice.

Loved the peek in the fridge- we burst out laughing when you panned across the eggs. We have chickens, and even with selling to friends, we almost always have at least 4 dozen in our fridge. My deviled eggs are legendary according to people who’ve had them, and a 6-egg quiche is terrific (closer in texture to a souffle, but a great way to put eggs to use!) 😀

  • I’ll give Captain Crunch some props but he’s still a second rate captain with a mediocre crew in a small navy. Captain Crunch is the Yellow Tail of the cereal industry GV, lots and lots of marketing dollars and Everyone’s eating it. Time to get out there and Expand your cereal palate.

QOTD – I have a tin of Gomes da Costa sardinas con salsa de tomate (sardines in tomato sauce) from Argentina and I’m drinking some Mendoza syrah which, even though I’m falling on deaf ears with my Mendoza syrah recommendations, is very good and a WILD value. I know it’s all about the malbec down here in Argentina but the wine nerds are drinking Mendoza syrah in the Argentine wing of the wine nerd cave.

Dear Andy and Edie from MT-: You should probably never visit our home… 😉

  • DavidL

I need to open up to more French wine, I haven’t really had a whole lot of experience with the Bordeaux or any wine from France for that matter.

QOTD: I just popped a bottle of 2005 Silvertop Shiraz. Drinking on a budget. $6.50 a bottle. =)

  • Jeff R

Nice seeing a personal side, Gary. Darn, that is a lot of eggs. What do you do with all of them?

To a poster above, yes our cupbords remain closed if not in use. An obsession, I don’t know. It’s just the way we roll.

Cap’N Crunch cereal – Is that because the person who came up with the product owns C.G. D’Aire winery?

QTD – No wine currently open. Had water with dinner and the wife had ice tea. Last bottle open was a 2003 Equis from Spain (Eric Solomon import) – wife didn’t care for it. I thought it was fair.

  • Jay

QOTD: The 2005 Green Lion Cab (outrageous label!) is open on my counter at present.

By the by, after watching yesterday’s bacon episode I was startled this afternoon to see NBC (I think – I was at the gym) do an entire news piece devoted to the rise in bacon sales (10% up in the past year they claim), bacon bars (who knew?!?!?) and Americans’ general adoration of bacon. You pegged yet another trend! 😉
