Gary Vaynerchuk tries the 2004 latour Martillac for the second time on Wine Library TV but this time it has been open for 3 days and it’s in NY not Bordeaux.

Wines tasted in this episode:

Good old GV coming through like a trooper from his own kitchen. Short episode but fun to see what’s in the fridge and what he’s drinking at home. Shocking to find out that in two days he’d only drunk less than half a bottle, and if this is what he is drinking at home why spit it out? Puzzling

On My Counter?… Prosperity Red. 70% Merlot, 30% Cab Franc.
Trader Joe’s sells this stuff for like six bones! If you don’t like Cab Franc you won’t appreciate this astoundingly cheap and decent wine (and I, frankly, won’t appreciate you – cause Cab Franc effin rules!) If you’re broke (and I am), Prosperity Red will help you prosper (in the wine aisle only).

    Hey Guy,

Just started watching you and so far I’m intrigued with you. You are a very unusual man! Now, I’ll say that’s not always a bad thing. I’m enjoying your “style” on the two shows I’ve seen. Your giving me just enough to go get some past shows.

You can thank Al for turning me on to your podcast.

Thanks Guy! I look forward to seeing more shows and learning a little more about wine.

    Thanks for the mini-episode GV!

QOTD: I just drank a Bogel Petite Syrah. Pretty good, lots of Plum skin and black pepper with semi-soft tannins!

I am afraid that in our house nothing stays open for long. I also do not believe that many red wines will last over night. Forget three days! Though perhaps young claret is an exception…

QOTD a tasty la mancha temp. fresh crisp strawberry and raspberry fruits.

What is sitting on my counter is a corked bottle of Chateau Plain Point 2005. I’d love you do do a show where you talk about corked wines. I’m only starting to be able to identify them and I’m realizing there is a lot of bad wine in my past that was actually corked.

QOTD-I’m finishing off a bottle of Domaine De La Camarette Cotes Du Ventoux red 2003 (Syrah, Grenache Noir, Mourvedre). Very nice though not as good as it was last night even though I used the vacuvin. Nice fruit, light to medium body. I love the Rhone.

QOTD: Tonight it was 2004 Bailly-Lapierre Crémant de Bourgogne, but the 2005 Vinosia Falanghina is what’s on the counter from a few days ago. Both were excellent, I love that orange custard from the Falanghina.

Yeah, so, now that I’ve taken my Dramamine, I feel MUCH better. 🙂

Nice little show – I like the contrast of these short shows along with some of the epic shows you’ve done in March. Good job!

Come on Gary youre at home, no need to spit! 😀 Nice lil concept to do these home shows….I want a tour! 😛 QOTD: Nothing right now. Im not an every day wine drinker. Im still stuck in that buying mostly wines to put away for a few years to a few decades. I am buying more cheaper wines to drink now that I was a few months ago though.

  • richardvinifera

QOTD: King Fish, 2005 California Merlot. I was a bit worried when i cut the capsule off as it was a synthetic cork (the solid plastic type, not the solid plastic outer with plastic foam inner!) so I thought with it being inexpensive, having a bit of age, and not the most celebrated of closures, but it was actually pretty well balanced, with moderate complexity and length, didn't do so well when eaten with a cottage pie (wiki says similar US dish is cowboy pie?!)
