line of the day – ‘ I would like to have pig snout and ears with this wine’

Love Gary in this episode; he rolled with the negative feedback of the ‘College humor’ episode beautifully. As he says, you have to try different things, some will work, some won’t. Glad to see that he isn’t going to dwell on it at all. Back to his incisive, funny, super ‘on point’ self. Picking the ‘Suxx’ wine a masterstroke.

Good show – I liked it. It’s nice to know I am not the only one influenced by the labels lol

    thanks – appreciate the dedication.

also, like the flip cam when stationary – works well!

we’re still friends, dont worry. Drank any Colorado wines? Strongest varietals are Cabernet Franc and Riesling-some of your favs.

  • Thanks for the hotel room tasting. I know I have been in a wine store and have bought bottles purely on their name and/or look of the label. Some have been bad, but a few (like your Suxx) have been GREAT. Just goes to show, you never know what you will get with a random pick of a wine.

Great show GV, no worries on the College Humor show. Shit happens! Good that you try different things. That’s we all keep doing with the different wines, right. I can’t tell you enough how much you have changed my outlook on wine and my wine world.

    Thanks for everything!

  • Gary,

I watched your bacon show, and I wondered what your doing to your palate to eat that way. As a serious palate aren’t you concerned about biasing your taste by eating so much high fat and nasty foods? Lets not even talk about compromising your health.

Watching you gobble down sugar foods like captn crunch, cocoa puffs, or jelly to “train” your palate by the spoon full, its no wonder your palate is changing.

If you want opinions from medical professionals on how your palate changes with eating high fat foods: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxb7XPm_SxU T. Colin Campbell gets into it at about 9 minutes on this video.

I had an opportunity to attend the “R” Wines tour fall 2008. It was awesome. Wines although extremely flambuoyant were all delicious. Also, phenomenal treat to meet both Dan Phillips and Chris Ringland, as well as the other winemakers. What a great business this is!!

Gary, nice show. I’m leaving a comment even though I’m now one show behind… I tend to watch the shows a little delayed, which means I always feel left out of the commenting interaction love that goes on here. Which disappoints me.

Quick comment – I really enjoy when you have guests on, but it seems like every other show now is a guest show. Whatever happened to the old WLTV, with you getting intimate with some vino and bringing the THUNDER to the viewers (and Mott of course)? Give us more Gary V solo shows man!

Yesterday’s show wasn’t your fault. I blame Amir for trying to be funny and failing hard. I think you actually did a great job holding the show on track. Bring back Jake! And the hot chick from the previous CH show.

Little late on the comment, but I thoroughly enjoy the “on the road” shows. Ill have to find a bottle of that shiraz… It really is one of my favorite varietals. You should try Silvertop Shiraz. Its a cheap $6.50 per bottle, but fantastic. =)

  • Fruit bombs are Ok by me, but not everyday. (name is fun as well: SU XX)
Whites, rose and bubbly are considered all SERIOUS in my household, it just depends on the mood of the evening the type to consume ( as you may deduct, mimosas are a continuous treat in my house, prepared by my brother, the best in Mexico.)

Heard about your book deal from your brother AJ, congrats, let’s hear more about that.

Great show, Gary – I just watched the whole month of March (all the WLTV episodes) in the last 3 days. I was lagging behind, but now I’ve caught up!
Also wanted to say that I am super pumped for the Thundercruise!

  • Gary, Great show! You are my hero! Honestly. I have nothing else to say. You rock! OK, so I guess had 1 more (2 more with this little explanation) thing to say.

Question of the show for you,…which bottle did you keep drinking in the hotel room?
Loved the college show by the way. Good change of pace.

  • Fun stuff, Gary. I had some “bleh” feelings about #649 too… but whatever. You’re a king, and people need to learn to accept that they’ll never like everything.

    Great road show.

  • Hey Gary!
Gr8 show, I appreciate you doing shows from the road. The hotels should definately contact you about a line of Vaynorchuck approved half bottle selections! I would end up opening everything just to taste through them all. I’m gonna have to find that Suxx wine now. I’m sure even my non-wine nerd friends will appreciate it!
As always, if u’re ever in Hawaii, lemmie know and I’ll take you out surfing!

  • GV ~ You want to try an over the top fruit/alcohol Oak monster wine? Try the Gamba 2006 Old Vine Zin from Dry Creek, Ca. Don’t get me wrong, like you were expecting the Suxx to be hedonistic and way over the top, I thought that about the Gamba and it actually “DID” deliver and I enjoyed it for that fact. It’s all about enjoying different wine styles and allowing yourself the freedom to experiment with wines you didn’t think you’d actually like.
    Happy travels !

Comment of the day: Go Dodgers. (!)

LA, a little hometown action. Miss the streets, beach and warmth — been in SF for 8 yrs… speaking of hotels in LA, for a good budget play — MIDWEEK — check out the downtown Standard. Again, during-the-week, as weekend rooftop pops bottles and Jim Jones and miami vice. (Tho… nothing wrong with a little Jim Jones every now n then…)

Speaking of labels, Pillar Box Red is one the best around.
    Pop champagne.
