line of the day – ‘ I would like to have pig snout and ears with this wine’

Love Gary in this episode; he rolled with the negative feedback of the ‘College humor’ episode beautifully. As he says, you have to try different things, some will work, some won’t. Glad to see that he isn’t going to dwell on it at all. Back to his incisive, funny, super ‘on point’ self. Picking the ‘Suxx’ wine a masterstroke.

I don’t get it when people say that they can’t have this or that wine because it is out of their price range, especially when we’re talking about $20 wines. Come on people, save somewhere else, don’t get cheap on wine!

    BTW, I loved the TV-illumination effect… psychedelic!

Even though they are a little out of my age group (53), I thought the show with the guys yesterday was quite funny. Amir made me chuckle many times throughout. Sometimes being out of character is a good change of pace.
    Today was new again–nice job!

    Dear Gary,
This episode was very comfortable. It felt like putting on some old slipperzzzzzzzz.
The undeniable safeness of it made me feel warm and secure. I only wish it was exactly like every other show you’ve done. zzzzzzzz nighty night Gary you were born to be mild. us wine people feel so at ease in a smooth warm way like flannel jammiezzzzzzz.

Nice show ? when you asked the hotel for three glasses, I hope you also told them ?It?s for my wine show.? 😉

Snout and ears are great! I?d love to see a variety meat/value wine show. When times get tuff, it?s time to start eating offal!

A Madeira show would also be cool. Madeira, the wine with an infinite shelf life ? because it?s already oxidized to perfection!

Ok, sorry for being a bit lame today 🙂

    Hey Gary nice show.

There is one thing that needs to be considered when thinking about all the negative responses from yesterday’s show or shows in the past that haven’t done so well:

This community was built on trying new things and you are staying true to that ideal. Wines and shows alike…the bad ones make the good ones that much more enjoyable in contrast.

Awesome show today, though you demonstrated the importance of Mott to WLTV. I think an interesting show would be to look at some wines which are widely available in supermarkets. I know that’s pretty much all that’s available to me and I’d like to avoid some of the worst offenders.

Glad to see you actually shop for wines once in a while! Loved the show! Thanks for putting in the effort and going out and grabbing a few interesting bottles. WLTV rocks! You know, R wines makes almost all bombs. It would be fun to taste all of their shiraz’s back to back and see how they differ.

  • You sold me on the Suxx. Next time the lady and I decide to spend a night at home, I’ll definitely pick up a bottle… or two.

  • Hey Gary,

First time commenting, but that shouldn’t be an indicator of my appreciation for your show – your enterprise pretty much sums the way in which I wished most of the internet was built.

Your show yesterday was not a train wreck, but certainly would have been had you not been the one sitting in between those two. I really think it showed your versatility and your ability to handle guests that aren’t pulling their weight for the content of the show and, in the case of Amir, trying to make the show more about themselves than about the show for which they are guests. Seriously, Oprah’s got nothing on you – I’d like to see her try and play off of Amir’s shtick.

You’ve got a great show going here and I really hope you don’t let the last show affect your choice to bring guests on the show, because the rest of them have been really interesting and bring a whole new dimension to the program. In addition, any other content about your life that you would be willing to share (i.e. some of the backstage stuff, a flipcam tour of the winelibrary) would be really cool in letting your viewers get a look at what you’re all about.

    Take care.

  • Ah. Solidly ‘au nature’.
And btw – I laughed hard today at the half-time-half-court prank today. Every time I think of it I laugh. So newbies tasting wine may not be so interesting, but all was not lost!

And I’d like to put in another vote for more serious whites.

  • hey gary, long time watcher first time commenter, mostly since you’ve made it so clear today how important the comments are for you. really loved this episode. kind of back to basics, (not that some of the recent guests haven’t been great, rose especially imo) very intrigued by the mollydooker.

random question – have you ever considered doing a grappa episode? i’d be fascinated to hear how you feel the grape varietals maintain their character through the distillation – if at all.

    keep up the great work.

Hey, Gary! Did love the episode! Welcome to L.A., by-the-by! Hmmmm….will have to try out that wine shop.

  • Orion S.

See, this is why we love you, Gary. You bounce back from the harsh criticism of yesterday’s episode and give us more, even when you’re busy traveling. Thank you.

what makes you think the hotel didnt see the last eppisode? they did, and they still got to get rid of that wine.

lol i always call people by their full first name too, i like the formality

yo about jake and emir, as you always say, just because somebody dosnt like something, that dosnt mean they suck.

Yo and your a straight up gentleman complementing another winestore, even if they arnt direct competition.

yo whos hating on white wine?
“you can drink your white wine, you can drink it all the time,
if your friends hate on white wine, then they aint no friends of mine.”

yo your color is going all over the place …. oh its the TV, i can see it in the bottle

Yo a blend with that many componants shouldnt lack anything!

so here is the garys question of the day; which wine are you going to actually drink later off camera?

qotd: uh there wasnt much of a question, so … yesterday wasnt a train wreck, it just was what it was. I think there is an inherant comflict between your two mediums, your all about unscripted and unedited, while characters are by definition not, you have to predetermine how they will react and what they will say. either way, nobody needs to apologise, esp not you.

HELLS YEAH!! I’m loving the amazing energy, unhampered enthusiasm, positive attitude. The main thing being what we all love..Vay-Ner-Chuk-“ness” that this eppisode brings back. Great information, very fluid show, The OG Gary Vee comes through with a LEGIT rebound from an unpopular episode. Like it that you hold it down for white wine too, I actually prefer reds, however white wine really brings it more than it gets credit for. I’m honestly just amazed at how awesome this episode was, what a hell of a way to kill an “ill-recieved” episode, well, it’s the BEST way. BRINGING THE THUNDER!

This is a first for me, comments left 2 days in a row.
For those who have not had the privilege of trying a Sean Thackrey wine, you are missing out on a very unusual experience. Unfortunately his 2008 bottling may not be as good as some of his others but his 2006 is the most interesting I have tasted in a long time. Gary, you warmed my wives heart when you mentioned your love of his wine because she discovered it at a wine bar in Vancouver. The reason she ordered it is “it was the most expensive and I didn’t like any of the others”. Thank God for wives with expensive tastes, I now have a case and am looking for more. I was shocked that such a small winery actually got product here to Canada.
hopefuly the whiners about your last show will stop soon

  • Pappy Ralph

Great Show. Impressive that you can pull everything together in a hotel room and get a show out!

I’m going to start drinking more white wines.

I’m also going to post a comment whenever possible.
