line of the day – ‘ I would like to have pig snout and ears with this wine’

Love Gary in this episode; he rolled with the negative feedback of the ‘College humor’ episode beautifully. As he says, you have to try different things, some will work, some won’t. Glad to see that he isn’t going to dwell on it at all. Back to his incisive, funny, super ‘on point’ self. Picking the ‘Suxx’ wine a masterstroke.

this was a great episode. i have to say i didn’t hate yesterday’s episode, i just didn’t really think it worked too well. now on the other hand that video of amir getting pranked was so hilarious.

now if only i could get rid of this cold and get back to drinking wine, all would be well in the world.

hi gary–that’s hilarious how you caught yourself on the awful chewy impression. keep up the hotel eps–this one was well-done–controlled camera today.

Hey Gary, you still have the magic. Yeah, yesterday suxx’d.

The blind tasting episodes are some of your best. Please do more of them. I also like the ones about a particular region or varietal, with or without a solid guest.

  • Askold Shegedyn

The guys yesterday were putzes. What were you thinking?

  • Marshall

    Hey gary,
In edition to the Madeira show how bout a White Port show. I think alot of Americans would love white port if they tried it.

    Awesome show Gary!
I’m disappointed that so many people were complaining about yesterday’s show. People need to relax. The best part of WinelibraryTV is that there is no stuffiness factor. Who cares if one show breaks the mold a little. I think Jake and Amir are geniuses, and they brought their silly ways to the show. The fact that you provide a show every single day to us fans is reason enough not to complain. One show doesn’t go the way people like and they think it’s the end of the world. Sorry. Just had to get that off my chest.
Thanks for continuing to put out an amazing show! I’ve also listening to some of your keynotes recently and they are truly motivating. Thanks!

  • Whether people liked yesterday’s episode or they didn’t, nobody can deny how well you, Jake, and Amir, all handled it.

    I know you’re curious… I LOVED yesterday’s episode. 😀

  • Thanks! If we didn’t care we wouldn’t say anything. (I imagine that means we’re hooked, huh?) I guess what I’m trying to say is that I think most of us want to be educated with a dose of thunder, which you deliver each time you’re on, but yesterday was a mismatch of demos with Jake and Amir in my opinion. Kudos for giving it the old college try though! I hope you gained a boatload of viewers.

Please bring back laid back Fridays, blind tastings, non-celeb guests and Christopher Mott! Thanks again.

GV, you really seemed disappointed from yesterday’s episode, but please, don’t! As I said, I like it that you diversify, that you take chances, keep us on our toes. Keep up the good work, you are really inspiring.

  • super ep! i love the jack kerouac format (but use a lamp, not the tv, for light) – I think i’ve officially ditched the lurker label for good, if only I had some kind of clue that you’ve really read this.

Here’s an idea – since I suspect most of us will never get to be on your show, maybe once in a while, let the Vayniacs come up with a question of the day. I bet you get a zillion more comments (but more to read for you, so maybe not such a great idea).

Here’s my first submission: “Since you first began watching WLTV, how has YOUR palate changed?”

Love the show, glad Mott’s job is safe.

Excellent show my good man. You rebounded just like (insert great Jets moment where they came back from adversity). Yea! Just like that. Next season the announcers are going to say “that (insert great Jets player) sure played his heart out just like Gary did after the College Humor episode.”

Wicked show. Love the fruit bombs and love the road trip flip cam episodes.

    Peace
    Rob

  • Christopher Scoggin

I like these flipcam episodes more and more. I especially liked the semi-random selection of wines. Keeps it fresh.

As someone who disliked yesterdays episode and personally didn’t find the guests at all funny, I have to say that the blame should not be placed on them for being who/what they are. I just don’t think that they were a fit for this ‘show’. Don’t let that miss keep you from mixing it up and trying new things.

Keep up the great work GV

  • JasonH

hmm random comment eh? well even though the college humor episode didn’t go so well (I thought it was ok) I really super loved the Kevin Rose episode. Then again I’m a Diggnation fanboy so what do I know?

Gary – big fan of the show, long time lurker as this might be the 3rd comment I’ve ever left (I’ve been watching for 2 years). Definitely liked that you picked “Suxx” – even just for the label. Every once in awhile, my girlfriend and I will pick an out of the box wine, competely based on the label. It’s a lot of fun.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Still waiting for the invite for my pizza site! I promise not to wear my dolphins shirt!

Great show Gary. Love that you’re not afraid to mix the show’s format up from time to time. Without the lows, you can’t recognize, or appreciate, the highs. 🙂

PS: I’d love to see a show featuring the glass cork. I recently had an amazing reisling with such a top, and since you’ve commented on the screw top and the like, it’d be cool to hear your thoughts on this relative new-comer. I see that some Cali wines are using it now, too.

Great show. I really like the travel shows you do. I wish you spent a little more time on your selection process. When I go into a strange wine shop I’m usually unsure how to pick a new and exciting wine, so I end up grabbing an old reliable. I would love to get some help on how to break that mold. Thanks.

Long time watcher, first time commenter. Gotta ask – did anyone else go to the 12 days of Christmas when Gary mentioned the wine with strong pear (Mollydooker) would go well with Partridge? Gary, I really hope you read this; my fiance and I watch your show all the time and are sharing the thunder with all our family and friends, whether they are ready for you or not! Keep up the great work; I love trying to find wines you feature, and can’t wait for each new episode. Thanks for helping me expand my palette!

    gary,

great episode. love the impromptuness of the scene. gives it authenticity. hope all is well with you and all the vayniacs out there. stay safe guys! cheers.

I don’t get it when people say that they can’t have this or that wine because it is out of their price range, especially when we’re talking about $20 wines. Come on people, save somewhere else, don’t get cheap on wine!

    BTW, I loved the TV-illumination effect… psychedelic!
