So is that the house wine? What do they charge? Is it $3 or $4 a cup? Quite a mark up for a 67 pt wine! Eeek.

I honestly can’t remember the name of any wine I’ve had on a plane but I did have some decent reds in my former (non mommy) corporate life flying Business Class on United International from San Diego to Heathrow-numerous times.

Awesome show Gary! So how did the people around you react to the Thunder Show?!

Nothing exciting for drinks – just the best vodka they have with some ice…If you are flying with your girls to some sunny vacation spot you might as well just drink the good stuff straight and get the party started!

This is great. Tasting in the elements. “Peanut’s sir?” Next, Gary will be tasting wine on the metro, taxis… maybe while riding a bike. Good effort, and there didn’t look like a lot “oooh another video blogger” smirks.

Maybe not a bad idea doing an inflight show, now that Robert Parker is doing video blogs. He’d never have thought of that.

QOtD: Flying Air France to Paris and they were pouring everyone Mumm, I believe. Domestically, I stick to bloody marys or an imported beer if I have an aisle seat.

Nice to see you swallow your wine for a change…too bad it was Vendange. Also entertaining to watch you supress the thunder.

As for best drink on a flight, coming back from spring break, three buddies split a handle of kettle one. The flight attendant was great, kept bringing us ice and seltzers, told us to keep the bottle down low so she wouldn’t get in trouble. One of our buddies was back a few rows, so the attendant was bringing him the drinks we were making. He was lucky though, as he was seated in between two (very nice) sorority sisters. fast foward, the handle of vodka is ending, we hear behind us people getting grossed out. ends up our buddy had to use the barf bag (weak, couldn’t handle his booze). The flight went soooo fast, still the best flight, with the best drinks I have had to date..

QOTD: Nuviana Chardonnay 2006 from Spain. Excellent full bodied chardonnay. Lots of peaches and cream on the nose. A hint of strawberries and a smooth finish. It paired really well with the roasted almonds in Air Canada’s first class. Heck, even the Red Bull Zinfandel tastes alright in first class.
Here’s to upgrades on Air Canada!

I’ve been wondering about palette change since you’ve been referencing it recently. Since your(GV’s) palette changes, Tanzer’s and Parker’s must change too. How, then, can the industry rely on such a subjective measure? Or is everyone who writes for WA and WS really a cyborg?

Thanks for putting out an episode with your obviously full schedule. I would much rather see something like this than no episode at all.

QOTD: I was drinking gin and tonics with an interesting scotsman on the way back from a flight in England. He said it didn’t taste right but it tasted fine to me!

QOTD: Southwest makes good little mixed drinks. Their cranberry/vodka is quite good and quite strong. It makes the trips a bit more enjoyable!

QOTD: wines are generally crap…so, prob a cocktail if they can make it nice. Singapore Airlines used to make their all time star Singapore Slings, but now its kinda pre-mixed. therefore, may have more sugar than alchy.
