Haha, is there such thing as a memorable wine on an airplane? That’s like hearing memorable music in an airport. It just doesn’t happen.

I guess the best wine I’ve had on a plane was on a Singapore Airlines flight, back before I knew anything about wine. The choices were white and red, and I had the red.

QOTD: I was sitting in first class one time in the mid 90’s at Miami International on American Airlines and they served Grich Hills Chardonnay. That was the best I have ever had on a plane.

I never knew that overhead light was so bright after you put down the camera to test the peanuts pairing. This was a good short show under trying conditions.

Tried to get very drunk on 15 strength Cape Shiraz mini bottles (don’t remember the brand)on a long haul to South Africa from London, as I have trouble sleeping on flights. I drank around 10 of the little buggers, couldn’t get to sleep, but got very drunk. The wine tasted of tar and burnt blackberry jam, and the ridiculously high alcohol content just shot straight into my bloodstream A real humdinger of a thing. I spent the next 10 hours with a headache from hell. So I amused myself by watching 4 (yes 4) back to back in-flight movies. Not one of my best wine memories.

On the planes I drink tomato juice. And, if I’m feeling the need to unwind, I make an airplane version of a Bloody Mary. I like the way the tomato juice clings to my airplane ice cubes. It always seems that this plastic-cupped airplane beverage goes on and on and on and on….

Funny episode, I am flying Southwest tomorrow (I’m actually a pilot for another airline).

I always drink bloody mary’s when I’m a passenger too, why is it that so many people like that drink in the sky?

So my best drink was a double grey goose bloody mary on USA 3000 Philly to Cancun earlier this year.
