I would love to sit next to GV on a plane ride. I could talk to him for hours.
QOTD: Ginger Ale everytime.

  • Not sure that I’ve ever bought a drink on a plane, but the Mai Tai I had at the airport in Maui was pretty good and gave me enough of a buzz to not need to buy a drink on the long flight back to Texas.

  • E dog

Reviewing wine on the plane: hussle hussle hussle !

QOTD: I had a Merlot on an Air France flight. I can t remember where it was from, but I do remember enjoying the bouquet after a really long day 🙂

    Hi Gary–hilarious episode–peanuts–wow!

I hate to brag, but since you asked–the one time I was on a private jet I was served DP Rose–wow–I was so excited I forgot to check out the vintage!!

  • JLove

Love the show, keep em’ coming! Hope you got enough sleep when you got to Vegas and went to bed (at 10pm), weak! Qotd: Guava juice on the way to Hawaii, always have it and it always sets the mood for a great vacation!

    Interesting.

QOTD: Water. I hate flying and tend to sleep as much as possible when sky high.

  • THIS is why I check WLTV before anything else after work! GREAT episode!

qotd – a canned DAB beer on a regional flight from Amsterdam to Paris in the mid-1980s. It came out of a guy’s carry-on luggage after he saw I was a little unsettled by his buddy’s live chicken that he had also stowed aboard. Ah, the pre- 9-11 days!

Neat show – short and sweet and good perspective on airplane wine.
QOTD: Colonial Estate Explorateur (Shyraz)05 on American Airline flight – Business Class to the Orient last year. Sometimes on Bus Class they have some decent wine selection. Also had a Vaqueyras that was decent.

  • Garrett

Whiskey and coke. I fear the Vendage.

    I’m guessing 31,000 feet….
Vendage – gotta do what ya gotta do…bad wine’s better that no wine.

  • Steve Lende

About three alcoholic drinks– maybe four if I’m traveling on N.W.A. When I’m on a domestic flight, its not quality but quantity.

I enjoyed a French wine from St. Julien on a Finnair flight in Business Class in 2001.

  • I fly (relatively) frequently on international flights and have tried wines offered by KLM, Lufthansa, Olympic, AlItalia, AirFrance, British Airways, Cathay Pacific…

Olympic and AlItalia have good wines, worth trying.

Winner: Air France (is it a surprise?). I booked my May flight with them likely at least 50% influenced by the happy wine experience.

Wine winner: Last July (I don’t know how long they keep these in rotation):
Chablis Champs Royaux William Fèvre 2006. But than, I do like Chablis in general.

Wines tried from other mentioned airlines are not worth the mention 🙂

QOTD: Jack and Coke. Maybe one day I’ll be a first class baller and get to have a good selection on a plane.

QOTD: when your that high up who cares what the drink was all i know is i get an extra buzzed which makes the plane ride better

  • Forgot it as it is OT, but The Best Food Award for the airline goes by several lengths to Cathay Pacific.

  • Chris Short

Gary, this is why you are the man. No matter where you are, you make an effort to put out a show. I really enjoyed this one.

QOTD: Haven’t had wine on a plane. Ginger ale is usually the drink of choice up in the stratosphere.

    Great show, Gary…a fun idea.

QOTD: I’m strictly a water guy when I fly, so I guess it’s gotta be the ’07 Dasani, with old bottle design.

  • As mentioned by others, this is what sets WLTV apart! Tasting dollar wines at 20K feet, pairing them with cheapo, stale peanuts, and spilling crumbs on the laptop in the process. Some innovative cinematography by GV as well! Great short-format show!

  • You never cease to amaze and entertain Gary!

I too always have ginger ale on a plane, not that I have flown much at all in my life. Alcoholic beverages are my preference prior to flight so that I don’t need a prozac!

    G. You looked tired. The only thing I got out of this show was the thought of you doing this when you are 80. You know I am busting ye ol chops! Get some rest!
