In these tough economic times, we are looking for the “value play” ($15 and under). Could you do a couple of shows focusing on the following: (1) southern France, in particular, wines from Fitou and the south west coast; and (2) great, inexpensive Chilean wines.

    Thanks.

    TJC

PS: Nix the guests that are clueless about wine. In contrast, I really liked the show with Digg because it’s obvious the guy loves wine and thinks about it. Thinking is good!!!

Great show, you know everyone loves the blind tastings. It’s really a bad weekend to be a Spartan fan. First you crushed their wine and tonight UConn is going to crush their spirit. What are the chances of you doing a full show of Connecticut wines if UConn wins the National Championship? I think it would be awesome for all your CT fans. Thanks

QOTD – No shocker that’s its UConn. Although I’m a diehard Jet and Ranger fan, I’ve got to show the love for UConn. Its the closest thing to a pro team in CT.

Enjoyed the show! Love the Blind Tasting Format!
Gary, since you are such a huge white wine fan, can you do a show on drinking older whites? The other night I had a 2001 Pinot Gris – “Cuvee Cecil” from Lucien Albrecht from Alsace France and a 2002 Chablis Premier Cru- Domain Louis Moreau. Both outstanding!!!

Wish you would have chosen a Fresno State Wine!!!
    QOTD – Marquette

Hey Gary — Like that Alaska commenter, I’ve been watching since episode 60 or so. Learned a ton. Fave college is Georgetown — too bad they sucked this year.

  • Great episode Gary, “worst wine ever on WLTV” was a classic quote. Love the blind tasting format. I’m part owner of a small Italian wine importing company and with all the samples we get of the same varietals we’re forced to blind taste a lot. Tonight it’s with 3 different 04′ Brunellos! Hopefully we’ll see what all this hypes about. Go Uconn!

    Gary,

I recently heard of a winery in New Mexico that makes some great sparkling wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the Champagne style. (The winery is Gruet- anybody had it?)

I’m curious about certain areas in the U.S. where unique micro-climates might exist for making great wines in unexpected places. How about a show on wines from obscure location in the U.S.?

By the way, your face after tasting the Michigan State wine was priceless. I’m a long time lurker- and that face alone was worth a comment today.

LOVE the idea to do a show on the limited wines on the military base. I too live in a foreign country and cannot find specific wines reviewed on your show.

QOTD- Indiana University. I have been through a lot with IU, from a basketball fan as a kid with Coach Knight to getting one of the pieces of paper on the wall from there to faculty positions and consulting.

Love the 50 score, I’m sure Easter at the parents’ will bring something similar. Ol’ Dad loves to find the Hoosier wines at the little liquor store with the smelly guy in the cage who takes the money through the slot. Maybe I can fake an illness and miss this year.
