    I vote yes.

Also, I agree that the best episodes are in the 300’s. Those shows were very energized and fun.

    GV,

I actually had the Esporao 2003 two weeks ago and it was quite suprising. I did feel it was still kinda tannic, but yet a beautiful wine was hiding in the back waiting to come out with further cellaring. The bouquet was amazing, decanted it for two hours and I was simply amazed. I found it quite interesting that they change the artwork every year on the label, like Ch. Mouton, gives the wine an extra appeal 😀

QOTD : NO MIC! … al natural is better!

  • Thanks for reviewing the Esparao. I’ll be sure to tell my friend who recommended it to me how much you enjoyed it.

  • No mic needed. Keep the energy and passion for what you’re doing and we’ll hear you just fine.

As for the quiet time, it actually scared me just a little.

Great show on the Alentejo region! A month or so ago I bought a mixed box of 6 Portugese wines, most of them from Alentejo. The Esporao was there, but mine was a 100% Tourigal Nacional varietal; can’t wait to drink it. Do a show on Portugese white varietal: Verdelho, that’s one varietal I was not able to find on WLTV. I believe it’s a different varietal than Verdejo from Spain right?

QOTD: No mic, i remembered some episode back when you were using mics, didn’t like the sound: muffled and austere.

QOTD: no mike. You are a dynamic speaker and the mike makes you sound condensed and restrained (think the old can/string telephones).

btw. where is the Maderia episode?

  • QOTD: the only time it matters to me is off-site when some rooms give ya too much ambient sound and make it hard to hear on crappy laptop speakers…

I have some tasting to do after this one, thanks again for the leads.

    Gary,
No need for a mic. The couple of shows where you used it, you would ask Mott questions and we couldn’t hear his response. I love the interaction between you two. It makes the show more real and personal and only hearing one side of the conversation would take away from that great aspect.
Also, I loved the sound of the wine being poured in complete silence. Was similar to being able to close your eyes and hear nothing but the ocean or the birds on a spring morning. Enjoy the quiet, there won’t be a whole lot of that around the Vayner-home over the next couple of months. Congrats!

  • QOTD: Yes please. When I watch the show on my notepad it is really hard to hear sometimes.

Thanks for the heads up on Alentejo. I love Spanish wines and have been enjoying Vinho Verde recently but would love to try some more Portuguese wines. So many wines, so little time.

Hope your wife has an easy birth!

Great show. I wish we could get more wines from Portugal here in Japan.

QOTD: Naw, I think you move around too much and we’d have to suffer through a lot of “shirt against mike” and volume issues.
