QOFD: Graham’s Late Bottled Vintage port 2003, I hated this wine with a passion, it’s like chucking a can of peppermint altoids into my mouth. Oh well, hopefully I’ll pick something better next time.

Good luck, hopefully we will see some baby pictures -if you don’t mind showing them-

  • Mott is da man!!

Haven’t done a “dessert wine” yet this year….. no BS..!!!!

But aren’t you not supposed to refer to it as dessert wine??? Isn’t it Sauterne???

Where is Sir Gary Vaynerchuk been??? We want Sir Vaynerchuk!!!

Great episode on the Late Harvest Viogniers. It makes me want to try either of the first two you tasted and make sure to avoid the third one at all costs, seeing as how you dumped the rest of the bottle into your spit bucket!

QOTD: I just tried a Schmitt-Sohne Eiswein last week and it was quite fabulous. I got two bottles of it for the ridiculously low price of $15 per 500ml bottle. I didn’t know what to expect when I opened it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It went quite well with vanilla ice cream topped with strawberry-rhubarb sauce.

Also enjoying some of the Trevor Jones “Jonesy” Rare Port from Australia. Robert Parker has rated this an astounding 93 points, yet you can pick up a bottle of it for roughly $10-11. While it is not a port from Portugal, it’s unbelievably crazy how delicious this stuff is for late-night sipping along with a cookie or some cake. Has anyone else ever tried the “Jonesy”? If so, what did you think of it?

QOTD: Don’t like dessert wines or desserts for that matter. But we love Mott. Gary, my brother, don’t criticize Mott’s camera work. Maybe he’s just compensating for your webcam closeups where we can count your nose hairs!

    Love you guys!

I love seeing you check the phone in all the recent episodes. I’m sure I’m not the only one hoping to see you get THE CALL while recording.

QOTD – Vittorio Bera Moscato D’Asti. Pure deliciousness!

That was pretty fun dude, even though I’m not a dessert wine guy. Sorry bro, but Mott is right, the frame needs to include the table like he usually has it, the tighter shot doesn’t work for me, listen to the camera king bro!

QOTD: I seriously haven’t had one…I guess I tasted my boy Chris from Tularosa Vineyards Symphony this weekend while pouring at a wine festival, it was pretty wild but really not my thing(but the girls liked it!!)

  • I say zoom it back out Mott! Awesome!

Did not have a desert wine yet this year either, how sad is that? Otherwise I’d probably lie & say the Castaño from Yecla… Gets me every time.

Good to see you without any anoying guest btw.

Interesting episode. Never thought of Viognier as a dessert wine.
The best dessert wine I had in 2009 is 1982 Kuentz-Bas Tokay Pinot Gris Cuvée Caroline Vendange Tardive. Picked it up as a great deal and it tastes like tangerine. Plenty of acid on it as well so you would like it.

QOTD: Le Gourmand Rivesaltes. You were absolutely on that one. I have never seen the metamorphesis of a sweet wine when paired with chocolate like that.

As an aside, the older I get the more I realize how the fabulous women in our lives got the total, you know what, end of the stick in almost every aspect of life. Look at it, 4 days to go and your concession is to have the phone handy. AND that’s considered to be sensitive by the majority of the male world 🙂 Do we have it made or what?

Good show, I love riesling but never had a late harvest. Leave the camera work to Mott, the wider angle looks better.

QOTD…I’ve not had a “stickie” wine in ’09. I have plenty stored in the ole cellar, but it’s tough to find the right time to open them. I’ve got a few bottles of port that will probably never be opened. When the heck do you open a full bottle of port?

Your video encoding seems to be skipping a bit. There were two points in the 12 minute range where the video skipped.

Great episode, thanks for the info and some interesting wines!!

I haven’t had a dessert wine this year. I gave a nice one for a wedding last year, but that’s as good as it gets.

    Mott = “Crush It”

  • Marshall

I think this calls for a maple syrup show.
QOTD:1. I haven’t had any this year. 2.I don’t know how to answer that question other than “awesome?”

I agree with many viewers, zoomy-zoom back out.

QOTD: Tokaji from the Thunder Cruise!

As for Mott, he’s more awesome than a 3-trick Pony 😉

    P.S.
I won your book Crush It! Looking forward to reading it

    A great episode.

QOTD – Smith Woodhouse Colhita Port 1986 – my God it is soooooo good.

QOTD – Mott is an anchor, solid, but ever expanding, and one that I would like to sit down with and hoist a glass with.

Sometimes I find simple, frizzante, sweet-wines, that aren’t sticky, to be very “charming” ….did you really need to dump the last one? your descriptors all-along were intriguing, then you surprisingly tossed the bottle. You did not seemed jazzed by the aromatics in these wines today… as they usually are highly fragrant . What gives? Maybe there is alot of pollen in the air right now and the nose was a bit quiet on these guys. Best of luck w. the new additon!!!!!!!!!
