Jeez, I guess I’m in the minoritry but for me, the guest didn’t kick enough knowledge to justify a two-parter. More like self-serving nattering than light-shedding. This is the one guest I actually wished you’d interrrupted more, at least to give some shape to the conversation.

hehe, it just occurred to me that I own the exact same hat as Daniel was wearing, although mine has faded from black to dark brown.

QOTD: My first opinion would be that it’s not possible. However I would not be surprised if it indeed is possible for people like David who have that much knowledge.

  • More quotes in this episode:
“you can’t even sue him, somebody made a movie…”, “I have accidents occasionally and they end up on my barbecue…”, “what do you drink with breakfast?”, ”

Stilton cheese with Armagnac seeped peaches sounds excellent!

The musical comparisons were a bit weird but fun. ( spice girls, Dylan, Joplin, biggie ). Very good two part episode.

    QOTD: I can’t tell.

I’ve heard from my Italian wine making friends that they can tell the difference between crushed grapes by men and women, and they traditionally don’t let pregnant or menstruating women crush. ( sexist or I don’t know what, it’s what they say. )

What a fabulous guest. This is a guy I would love to hang out with.
QOTD: I cannot tell the difference, but by Daniel’s definition, I prefer wines made by Women.

“Gotta be rude to the French”… “they respect that”…”attention!”. As a home-wine maker, his tips on taste … touch ( sticky) …food first… Breakfast wine – “breakfast being the import meal that it is – needs wine” All great points on what you want the wine to be. His mother’s …”if you are hungry- don’t marry, learn how to cook”…ALL GOOD!! Very Wise guest! This guy preaches wisdom. Most memorable because he touches core values, and he is humble. He wandered the wine world and PAID attention to the important things.

    Gary,

I think you did great with this interview – stayed true to your personality while trying to guide Daniel.

Can we get Daniel his own reality tv show? I would definitely watch once a week! Super entertaining – thanks for introducing him to us!

QOTD: I’m going to start paying attention!

Easily the best show ever. Wow, I am blown away. This guy can probably get by on the finesse of his personality alone, but it’s his experience and knowledge that bring it all home. Thanks so much. Made my day. Really.
QOTD: I never thought about it, but it’s such an intriguing idea that I’m going to make a note to take this into account going forward.

  • Great guest, my first exposure to Daniel, the amount of quotes rivals Yogi Berra. The only two-parter I’ve watched twice.

QOTD: Not that I know, I’ve never tried or been concious to the fact.

Spectacular! I think this is the most I’ve ever laughed for a show. Great stuff, and to think I didn’t even know who Mr. Schuster was. As for the QOTD, I’ve never even thought of it like that, but I can understand what he’s talking about. And sorry for lurking lately, been a bit busy in my life this month.

Shame on you for trying to make him raise the price when people can’t even eat or pay the rent. . Wine is too expensive as it is. I hope you were joking. I think others should lower their prices.

A wonderful balance of finesse (Gary) and elegance (Daniel). I could watch these past two episodes a hundred times and learn something new each time.

  • If the “TV and Print Media” would put images of people like Daniel in front of us … it would change our countries “youth” culture back to one that respects, embraces and cherished our older people as the pillars they are. Wow, You’re blessed to be given his time and I am honored and grateful that you shared it with me / us. Thanks Gary.

If you like them gem of a soul … then you would love Myron Barnstone. –He is the Art version of Daniel. And the stories he can share… if interested check out Barnstonestudios.com

  • Have him back! I loved him and yes, I am a lady, so maybe that is why. So many sexually provocative, religiously provocative (that darn carpenter), just provocative comments. Hilarious too. I loved the history of his life. Could listen to his stories for hours. Looking forward to peaches and stilton.

As for raising the price, if you have a good thing, it is high quality, with limited qualities, only in great vintage years, I agree. He is shortchanging himself. There are plenty of wineries that charge double, triple, quadruple that for wines made in larger quantities, every year.

QOTD: I have never tried, but I will now. Thanks for the implication. Love to look for new things in wine and finesse is always enjoyable.
