Good show, good guest. I love the way GV says to the guy (who is German) -‘does your grandfather bust your chops?’ and is surprised when the guy doesn’t understand the question…..
Somehow I doubt whether ‘bust your chops’ is in the German/English phrase book.

Brand equity, frankly, I am not interested in seeing the world from the marketing and pr point of view.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon now has a chance to be entertaining! You’ll be bringing the thunder to that show GV, that’s for sure!

    I agree with “Zube”
I watch. But if I can’t buy and try it for myself,…………….
QOTD. I dunno. What does Susan Balboa, (Argentina), look like?
If she looks like her Crios Torrontes taste, then she has to be smoking.

  • Let me say that “wine knowledge for posers” sounds like a lot of fun. ( and funny ).

This is a very interesting episode, German wines are some of my favorite.

QOTD: depends on how they feel about themselves I would say.

I thought the kid brought some game. Even though his wines are not available now in the U.S. I still thought that the sharing of ideas and philosophies on what plays in the different markets shows some insight into what a vintner has to go through in crafting his/her vine and wine. But I’m EZ!

QOTD: Speaking of EZ, Charles Smith, damn fine looking man!

QOTD: BrandonM would say yes but I gotta Pazzz on that one.

There, finished watching. Gary- I’ve never known a fox to be overly interested in grapes, only in Aesop’s Fables….

QOTD: I think it all depends upon each individual’s “palate” on that topic.

  • Nice show, good kid touting German Rieslings though I have Kabinetts by themselves all the time. A great quaffing wine in my opinion.

I see there were some issues with today’s production along with the misspelling of “experiance” and listing the Claudia Springs Pinot as one of the wines today. Where’s Mott!

I still hate seeing “Not Available.”

    QOTD: Of course.

    Good guest.
Availability: The Vaner nation should be happy they’re getting an education, who cares about availability of the wine? Just be happy you’re able to learn something.
Rolands (sp?) comments: Crap. He obviously has never been to Anderson Valley or he’d know it’s a great place with great wine, stick to talking about something you know, like crappy upstate wine.
    Whiners!

I love dry riesling but hate sweet riesling. Consequently I don’t buy much because I don’t know which is which. How can I tell if a particular German riesling is dry or sweet?

Jeez…why all the hate for this ep. It was fine, G, and so was the guest. Big fan of the dry Reislings. Moreso from the Alsace, though.

    QOTD: I’m gonna say….no.

I like this guy a lot. He’s a great guest and a great ambassador for the future of German wines.

Nice episode. Trying more Reisling/Alsatian type wines these days. Brought a Gewurz to a party on the weekend and had it mostly to myself. Yum. Everyone else was into Chilean Cab. Ho hum. QOTD: YES YES and YES. Gary you are amazing, your discriminating palate is something I dream to develop. Congrats on the new little one. Bless you all!

The negative comments are BS. Gary has always stated that the show is about expanding your palate (for wine and experiences) not for selling wine. If you want him to be a company shill, you are in the wrong place.

Very entertaining. Had me laughing and enjoying the chatter.

I’m scared, though, that this devout beer drinker is growing interested in wine. That’s a habit I cannot afford!

    Keep them coming!
