line of the day – ‘Big blackberry flavours exploding on my nose like a grenade’

Barnstorming episode featuring GV at his best. When he goes on about the nuances of different vintages his knowldege is scary. The visible wince when trying the last wine is classic Gary, and sticking the wooden box on his chair as an Oak Monster substitute made me laugh. A classic.

  • QOTD: Oh, I’m bad with numbers. The ones with just you doing your thing are rock solid episodes. I really liked the one on wine cellars, liked Randall Grahm a lot and your Dad’s a fun guest too. Tough to pick one!

Thanks as always, Gary. Loved this episode, but then I like guests and being out on location as well. Just keep doing the show. Love it.

QOTD: All of the outdoor episodes were outrageous, but- the one where the wind blew your glass across the table and you snagged it without looking.

Gary. Congratulations on so many shows. I’ve been watching for years now. Over the course of the last few years, my life has changed dramatically. My wife left me. I was hospitalized. I got a new job and a new apartment. I’ve tasted so many new and old wines with so many new and old friends. Yet, despite how much my life has been drastically altered, it comforts me that I can still come to winelibrarytv.com and see you rant and rave about the pleasures of wine. I’m sure you’ll have to quit at some point, but I just wanted to say thank you. I’ve learned so much, laughed so much, drank so much and lived so much. And I’ve met a lot of great people through this community.

Seriously, Gary, thanks. It has meant a lot. Cheers, bro!

  • Congrats on 700.

QOTD: I love 182 – in the freezing cold with your Ninja like reactions to the sliding glass! I watched it a few months after you’d posted it and that hooked me onto WLTV as anyone crazy enough to do that had to be worth watching. Feel bad that I am only an occasional commenter, so promise to watch the next 300 episodes and comment on all of them! If you can spend the time making WLTV, I can spare two minutes to comment on them!

Congratulations! n big ups to WLB-Tv’s #700. Really liked your format today, great brainwork Gary. Yes, my favorites will always be the old format cause that’s what drew me in the 1st time when someone told me, hey check this out on the web. Awesome what you did today with the vintages, older wines can be timecapsules that take you back to people, places, or events that past. Jus last month my family sat around the table reminiscing about what we were doing in 1990 n 1991. Finally about the 1988, wish you would have given it a chance. Made it one of those episodes where you revisited it again 24hs later. This weekend, I had a 1988 Cote de Beaune that did exactly that (light, Super stinky, very tart). I poured 8oz out, n came back to n excellent Burg. the next day. QOTD: The laid-back couch episode that closed out 1996, as this was my first episode.

nice touch bringing out the BIG ASS GLASS for #700 … 🙂

  • QOTD: dont know the number but it was the Different Strokes opening theme song after we made fun of your sweater from the episode the day before- that and the 5 or 6 episodes you called me a big jerk off- Those always made me laugh my ass off

Congrats on 700!!!!!!! You bring the thunder everytime. All the best for the next 700.

QotD – Easy – This past Father’s Day. Good wine comes and goes, but being able to sit next to Pop is a very limited commodity. Love beats wine everytime. That episode is what it IS all about.

QotD: Any of the episodes with your father. They’re all great because ya’ll agree on so much stuff, but then the old school pov vs the younger generations pov really comes across when ya’ll discuss the wines. And not only that, but he is also hilarious to listen to, kind of like the old guy at a family reunion who is well liked but still extremely opinionated.

Congratulations on 700 Gary, I’m a very nostalgic person myself.

QOTD: (#629) Most memorable episode has gotta be the Nicholas Jolay episode where he says he’s not a wine maker but a nature assistant. I really liked that.
