line of the day – ‘Big blackberry flavours exploding on my nose like a grenade’

Barnstorming episode featuring GV at his best. When he goes on about the nuances of different vintages his knowldege is scary. The visible wince when trying the last wine is classic Gary, and sticking the wooden box on his chair as an Oak Monster substitute made me laugh. A classic.

Great stuff Gary. Congrats on 700! The thing I love best about all this is the number of great people I’ve met through the forum. Thanks!

  • Bravo on classy, classic show: comfortable set, good production values, good sound, good camera work by Mott, no flipcam/iphone grunge.
Best episode out of 700? Impossible to answer. Discovered your show about a year ago while doing research for my weekly wine column. Watched a half dozen or more shows that night, been hooked since. We share many opinions about wine. Probably have not watched all 700, but closing in on it. Episode 182 — wine tasting in the snow — is most vivid memory from the first time I watched you, but many, many others have entertained and informed me. In my weekly newspaper column, a little bit of you reflects in a little bit of me to help change the wine world. Looking forward to your triple digit show.

Great job getting to here Gary! That wasn’t a disappointing end, it brought out a passionate reaction.

Congrats on making it to 700! Your dedication is so admirable. I have loved many of your episodes. One of my favorites was when you tasted all those jams, jellies, herbs and spices. I laughed so hard, I cried. I also loved the episode when you tasted the Croatian wines. I enjoy seeing when you are shocked by the quality of wines for which you had low expectations. I have been hoping you might do an episode on Paso Robles wine. I noticed you did one on Temecula and Paso is so much better.

Great Episode to come back to, it’s been a while…

QOTD: 356 – First time really introducing the show to friends, first time drinking a Torrontes and more importantly one of the best memories I have with a good friend who recently passed away. Thanks for everything Gary!

Congrats on #700, loved seeing them aged bottles popped open and tasted………thank you

    QOTD:
I love and grave the content, old school new school whatever.
But I truly loved and laughed the most with the shows with guests.
Like: K.Rose, J. Davies, Those Arizona Boys, and of course Mr S. Vaynerchuk.
But my favorite show, which I probably watched it x4 times, Epi #388

Yep episode #388 with J. Colan fron Rocketboom LMAO
It was a delight to watch, I found it so candid and funny, with great back and forth banter.

QOTD: Favorite episode?!?!??! Do you ask parents to choose their favorite child?!?!? (ok, well, perhaps you do….). The cheaters way out, though it’s completely true, is that #125 remains a fave, in part because it’s an hysterical compilation of lots of other episodes (shall I still send you some pickles?….). I also liked the more recent compilation episode, but among my favorites have been those with your father. Family.

Hehe, your reaction to the Cab was thoroughly enjoyable. It’s always wonderful to see you get excited about great wines, but it’s even better to see you furious at bad ones.

QoTD: the 684-685 2 parter (I haven’t been watching that long)

I think episode 100 is still my favorite. Amazing acting – especially by Brent…is he still running with your tasting glass? Additionally, whenever I’m showing a friend of mine the podcast for the first time, I ALWAYS start with episode 182. Sleet storm in Jerz with #1 WOTY from Spectator is just classic.

You realize the Eagles are playing the Jets on September 3? Hopefully, we can end Sanchez’s career a bit early. Oh, and are you behind Ochocinco’s descision to Tweet during games????

Thanks for the shows gary – looking foward to the next three hundred.

  • Hey Gary

Congratulations on the show mate, fantastic job. I do like the old format of Gary and a couple of bottles, BUT good guests are fantastic and the bit of flip cam work is always fun. Keep it up, everyone loves the WLTV (come on I watch every morning in Hong Kong).

QOTD: No idea of the episode number, but the time you tried Grosset Polish Hill Riesling from the Claire and talked up Australian Riesling (one of the unreocgnised bargains of the wine world).

    Cheers
    Andrew

G, I started watching every show around 300. Like many others, I watched the ones I missed immediately. If I remember correctly, it was one weekend and alot of wine to myself that I got caught up. So, after watching every episode, let me just say: Congratulations on so many fronts. Your becoming a Dad, AJ graduating, the books, the tv shows, Wine Libs success, etc, etc. I know you catch alot of shit sometimes, but, man-o-man when I think about all the stuff you’ve done, people you’ve interviewed, places you’ve traveled to and taped at…FOR THE SHOW and THE VAYNIACS, it really tells me just how passionate and dedicated you are abot getting your message across and spreading some knowledge to boot. We who get to be a part of it don’t realize how lucky we are. I don’t even want to think about not being able to tune in and grab some info. Call me selfish, but, I hope this goes deep into the 4 digits. Thanks for everything, G.

QOTD: Literally impossible to say. It’s like thinking of your favorite song. Just when you think you know what it is, there’s one that tops it. But, that shouldn’t matter: They’re all great!
