line of the day – ‘Big blackberry flavours exploding on my nose like a grenade’

Barnstorming episode featuring GV at his best. When he goes on about the nuances of different vintages his knowldege is scary. The visible wince when trying the last wine is classic Gary, and sticking the wooden box on his chair as an Oak Monster substitute made me laugh. A classic.

  • Quite a show this is! I love how extreme you can get.

QOTD: I think the last big mashup a few months ago, which made me get into WLTV.

  • Either 537 or 519, but I’m a beer nut, go figure favorite wine episode was 148 because it taught me so much. Loved the show. Glad to see you are wise enough to “dance with the one that brung yah” I was kinda afraid that 700 was gonna be you swan song, so glad you are continuing. I started watching when 327 aired because it was about beer, but i have since watched the entire archive. love the show, keep up the good work. ( and please please please do another beer show)

  • Gary, congratulations on reaching the episode number 700 milestone. I have been a loyal follower for the last year or so and want to commend you for your efforts in wine education, particularly in trying to convince people to try new wine varietals. As someone that has been publishing a blog for nearly seven years (http://www.tradelawnews.com), I am aware of the commitment and passion required to keep something going for this long, particularly when you are being pulled in many different directions. Keep up the great work and all the best.

Props to you on your dedication. Amazing amount of time spent producing a great show that is both entertaining and educational. Been a fan for about 18 months, and find it impossible to name a fave. The show in the parking lot with the sleet coming down keeps coming back to me. Keep up the good work, and best of luck on your many ventures. You are one driven individual.

QOTD: Any of the blind tastings–especially when the college wine scored highly with you. The Wine Stain on the Carpet–I believe it was Justin Isosceles–was that Mott’s Spot? Compilation episodes and GV impersonators. Nobody does it like you Gary. You’re the best!!

Great 700th episode! I liked the surprise ending. My vote is for #686, because we got to meet the lovely Misha and all of her beautiful hair. My husband votes for #148, training your palate, which is quite memorable as well.

  • Keenan Courtland

Been here on and off since 615.

605 for the guest interaction (Oz and Jame’s have nothing on Gary and Hendrick)

    529 for the QOTD

196 is the quintessential episode I point people to when they want to understand why I watch WLTV

I said instant classic because in one episode, you found:
black tea on the back end
    mentioned baseball cards
    mentioned casper the friendly ghost
did the two finger, turn over move, to talk about transition flavors a whopping seven times
and of course, the oak monster made an appearance!
    Can’t wait for episode 1000.
    Keep up the great work

Great episode as always, Gary! QOD: My favorite episode (and first one I saw, by the way) was the August after you started, and you were going to taste many, many wines, but had to leave to go to your buddy’s wedding, and cut the episode very short! Loved it! Still my favorite! Congrats, Gary, on 700!

  • Dawn S

QOTD Been watching since Aug. ’08…..It’s a tie; Love #655 AND #660!

Great show Gary! This California girl transplanted to Tennessee has really expanded her palate….didn’t know much more than CA wines…..Thanks!

Congrats on 700 episodes milestone. Brought me back out of lurkerdom. . .
QOTD: The winter tasting out in the WL parking lot with the glass blowing across the table, throwing iceballs (poor Mott). Also, the early episode with the Meekers (a fav winery of ours) really hooked us in, been watching ever since. Keep it up, 1000 is NOT enough!
