    Gary,

Never ever heard of GAVI – after that episode today – I’m gonna get me some GAVI – those wines sound absolutely delish..hmm mmm!

QOTD…Under rated are the ‘other’ wines in australia….verdelho, Pinot Noir, Viognier and Semillon….unfortunatley Australia gets pigeoned holed by the Big Barossa Shiraz’ and the YellowTail crap thats bombarding the US market, but we’ve got some other great wines here that would bring serious thunder.

Sorry about your knee. From personal experience, ouch!

The next time I’m in the mood to splurge a little on wine, I’ll seriously consider a Gavi.

QOTD: Sub-$10 wines (go ahead and sneer), radio, and stargazing.

QOTD: Having an episode with little Misch in it is underrated right now. You need to have one these!

QOTD … Twisted Oak Winery is underated

QOTD: Independent anything. In the past week I’ve gone to see two independent movies at an independent theater (Food Inc & The Hurt Locker). Both have blown my face off, yet struggle because 95% of the market is controlled by 4 or 5 major companies. Food inc pointed out that food is the same way, and the quality of food suffers as result. I’m sure the same could be said for music or even wines not picked up by major distributors. It really is too bad that all of the above couldn’t be experienced by more people to show them what else is out there versus what is shoved down our throats by advertising. The norm is status quo & everything else is underrated, imo.

GV: Thanks for the Gavi introduction. I’ll look for it next time I’m out.

QOTD: I think The Junk Yard Dog was underrated. Where’s his action figure?

  • QOTD: waiters, servers, waitresses, whatever. Does anyone realize how many people can derail a great server. The kitchen. The host/maitre’d, The bussers. Other servers. The Managers. The Sommeliers. The Bartenders. And Damn, sometimes those pesky guests. ps-I am not a waiter. I just feel for them.

  • QOTD: KIM MCPHERSON!!!! He. Yes. Kim is a guys name too. He makes great wines from TX grapes. He just gets that it should not be cab and chard. They do NOT fit the climate.
He graduated from UC-DAVIS, CA (and TX Tech). same time as most of the icons of CA wine in the ’70s
Tasting room is downtown Lubbock. don’t blink. Downtown is hard to distinguish from a deserted street corner anywhere in America.
I’m from Dallas. But search Kim McPherson Cellars out if you are near Lubbock.
He also gets pricing. His cost dictates higher but he knows you won’t pay more than $15. Max $20.
Try his DBS from NM. …………. That’s New Mexico. Dolcetto, Barbera, Sangiovese
Anyways. Thanks for letting me rant. –AP

Hope the knee feels better soon… that’s an annoying injury.
QOTD: I think that restaurants in the South-East are under rated.
It seems like every time a list comes out no towns down here get any love.
We even have a few dope joint right here in Mouse Town.
    Peace.

    Hey thanks for the info.
I’ve only thought of the reds in that area, have to see if I can find that out here in B.C. and give it a try.

    QOTD, Zweigelt and Ehrenfelser.

Gray Monk Winery in the Okanagan has a Rotberger Rose that I’m going to try this Summer.

In this west coast heat wave I’ve been enjoying a bit of Cranberry wine, it’s like drinking cold candy cane.

Speaking of cold, unlike you I really enjoy my white wine cold.

  • QOTD: Nebbiolo is underrated. When’s the last time you featured this amazing grape?

    QOTD: Cardinal Virtues are underrated

Gary, sometimes your descriptions worry me. Anything having to do with razors getting close to my tongue is just…bad, Chico. I can’t get on board for such a wine.

Hope your knee gets better. I’m pumped about NYC Wine and Food Festival. See ya in Oct, brohammed.

  • Gavi… must try it soon.

QOTD: I think a lot of foods are underrated like Coppa di maiale, speck ham or Culatello; and many beverages as well, specially juices, home made blends and mixes. Another thing is handwriting, many people seem to have forgotten that good penmanship is a skill that can take you so far…

    Nice short format show.
