line of the day – ‘I got zero, and I have a giant nose’

At last the sound has been sorted out…but still not a great format (for my palate)

  • Hey Gary

Thanks. I really enjoyed that show – good audience interaction and some interesting wines.

QOTD: I love flowers. Can I give you a top 5? Rose, iris, pansy, kangaroo paw and corn flowers

QOTD: We have Lilac bushes in front of our house and I think that smells awesome in the spring. I would have to go with Lily though, just because it’s my wife’s favorite and I like to see her happy.

    Gary,
Having watched this EP as well as the previous 2 in one sitting, I think this was the best yet. Thanks for the effort in fixing the sound; although still not great, it was better this time. Your comments really tied together the varying observations of the guests (folks off the street??) and when combined with your own detailed notes, helped me to come to a conclusion for each wine, which is great.
QOTD: So hard to pick one! 1) Stargazer Lily 2) Lilac 3) Lavender

  • QOTD: In wine, I find violet hard to resist. In life, color and lots of it. Sunflowers (especially the silly ones that stick up over the fields in Europe about a foot taller than all the others), hyacinths (love the smell), roses, hydrangeas (because just one flower is all it takes to fill a vase and they last forever) and foxglove (love seeing fields of these).

OK! I can’t watch this guy anymore. First of all, his taste buds leave entirely too much to be desired! He has n idea what he is talking about! My husband is a professional sommelier, and i have to tell you, his “great” choices are rather awful! He’s great if you have no idea about wine or champagne! His selections are some of the more undesirable “budget” selections. Trust me when i say that there are hundreds of incredibly good budget conscious selections. I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth on his champagne episode! It would do him some good to make take a course or two, or even get real advice from real sommeliers before he embarrass himself in front of the world! It was quite humorous!

Thanks for working on the sound guys! I didn’t have to blast my speakers during the guest comments this time.
Yeah, not a fan of most Chardonnays, but I’m working on expanding my palate so perhaps I’ll give some more French ones a shot. I must say however that some winemakers can get a little carried away with “minerality” and the wines feel like I’m licking rocks.
As far as Gamay goes, the 2007 Le Bois Jacou Jean Francious Merieau Gamay Touraine Loire Valley Red was a wonderful combination with roast chicken.
We had a 2004 Willm Pinot Gris Reserve before dinner and the Gamay was a great choice both in body and in flavor. One of my better recent pairings.
QOTD: I’m joining the crowd for once…Purple Iris

QOTD – easy one. Sweetpeas. They climb, come in many colors, and the scent is out of this world.

Thanks for the audio work, Mott. A huge difference. And Gary, thanks for all you do. Can’t wait to read Crush It!

Enjoyed the episode. The sound quality was definitely better than the rest of the live episodes. I also felt like Gary listened a little more intently to the guests today than some of the other episodes this week, which made for a more enjoyable discussion.

Michelle was a little harsh, but Garys take on bubbly didn’t match with mine either. Time for another bubbles show. I still think it’s hard to beat a Veuve Cliquot NV if you can find it for under 40. It should be 30 bones like it used to be. How about a blind bubbly show. I’d pay more for a lussous growers bottle but so far your choices have been meh.
I do like your take on Portugal(usually)and I love a good PV or Cab Franc.

I found it quite interesting, today more than others, the differences in opinions between the wines, & it just goes to reinforce what you always say about everyone’s palate being unique.

    QOTD: Daffodil, hands down.

Wow…I think this was the first show that I was actually shocked. The wine that you had was the 2008 Domaine Dupeuble Pere et Fils Beaujolais. I know you are always trying to put out the best you possibly can, so I thought I’d offer you a small bit of constructive criticism. I see that it’s already listed properly under the show…so that’s probably enough about that. As always it’s fun to see where the crowd differs.

Michelle’s comment is way out of line, and spoken like a woman with no class. There are other ways to speak your mind and not come off sounding like you’re one generation away from proper parenting.

I watched the Podcast on my IPod which I just figured out how to work. I spend a lot of time trying to get the Internet show and the Podcast show in sync – harder than I thought.
Impressive that one can spend so much time talking about an 86 point Beaujolais.
My question is, will we hear from Michelle’s husband?
QOTD: red roses, but they look best with a white flower in the mix.
