QOTD2: I’m saddened to say no. It sucks because I’ll be a student for another year, and I’m on this horrible budget, and I won’t be able to afford good wines for a bit. Also sucks cause I was really planning on going on the cruise this year. I was bummed I missed it last year. I would just skip classes for a week in the spring, but it falls right after spring break, how unlucky.

The Crush It Cruise sounds very intriguing, I will have to look into that…

Something about this episode makes me happy. Maybe it’s because you seem so happy. It makes me happy to see you so happy. As a writer myself, I understand the excitement that comes with sharing your work with loved ones…congratulations again on the book. Looking forward to receiving my copies.

QOTD: Not experienced enough, deep-pocketed enough to try these wines. Which I guess also means that I’m not deep-pocked enough to enjoy the Thunder Cruise. Entry-level journalism jobs don’t pay too well. There’s always 2073 though.

QOTD: My (sad) prediction is as follows…The Jets will be winning for the entire game and then the Pats will rocket out of no where and dismantle your defense resulting in a 21-20 loss for the Jets and a one and a half week loss for the VaynerNation while you lock yourself in your office with nothing but four cases of wine and a telestrator to deconstruct what went wrong.

Yes I had the Telegraph chatnf du pope.. It was my favorite wine I had all year. I got a nice refrshing mix of red and dark fruit. As well as alot of vegetables, when you said blood mary who hit the nail on the head with my experience with the Telegraph. Fabulouse wine I dont rate wine but I would have scored it a 96. The finish whent on for decades. Literally 10 to 20 min I still tasted it in my mouth.

And like a well focused wine so is Brady and he is in rythem and will rip the Jets but I got the Jets defense on my fantasy football and I was amazed how they played. But Brady man did you seee how calm he was last week like a general Joe Montana esq….

Pats, 27-10…and I can’t wait to talk to you about it Monday;)

Pope Castles are all well and good, altough i think the true star of this great episode has to be the New York J!E!T!S! JETS JETS JETS. 1-0 Baby. Defense let up no points gary and i can’t wait to see how New England handles a dirty Sanchez.

QOTD It’s gonna be hard but i think my jet’s will pull it off. This game is making my week go by all too slow, can’t wait.

I love the Pats but they played terrible Monday. Offense was meh, defense was AWFUL. If the Jets have as good of defense as they had their last game it’s no contest.

Looonnnng time lurker. I felt it appropriate to make my “comments” debut due to the fact that the first episode I stumbled across was quite similar to this – #505, Gigondas. Been watching consistently for the last year and want to say thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with the world every week. I’m planning on going the somm route, hope to be doing distribution/buying some day, and have got to say that your straighforward, no BS approach has been helpful in building my palate and explaining flavors in layman’s terms to my less wine-centric peers. If a wine smells like nerd candy or pig farts then say it smells like nerd candy or pig farts. GV is the future, the snobbery of the old guard is pasé. Anyway, I dug this episode. Love the Rhone (and its neighbors Provence, Languedoc Rousillon… lets just say I’m Mouvedré hound). Good wines, focused delivery, classic WLTV. Keep rocking, and maybe throw in a Mouvedré’s from around the world episode in sometime.

QOTD: Haven’t tried any ’07 Chateauneuf-du-Pape (kinda fit into the CKC budget) but I have had ’07 Cotes-du-Rhone, Gigondas, y Vaqueras and have really enjoyed all of them. I’ll have to look for that Pedrix, $28 isn’t too shabby.

I was wondering when you were going to hit up the 07 CdP’s! Very cool.

Now G, I’ve never given you crap about anything. But come on, you’re a sports guy. It’s Juan Martin del Potro (not Posto). And I know you love your Jets. They’re a sentimental favorite of mine (my Grandpa loved them). But for heaven’s sake, they only beat the Texans. It’s like Cowboys fans on a happy pill over beating the Bucs. And what the hell was with the poster children of tennis Serena AND Federer cursing out umpires/judges? Nice work guys, I didn’t realize McEnroe antics were making a comeback.

Now, if the Jets beat the Pats, you go right ahead and do back-flips ’til the cows come home. I’ll spot you.

Don’t think so – However, there are quite a few white varitals; Clairette, Bourboulenc, Grenache Blanc, Picardan, Piquepoul and the Rousanne you mentioned.
However, great episode, I will be in CDP a month for now, visiting circa 10 serious producers – so you even made me more hyped for my trip.

OK I have to tell this story. Back when I first started getting into wine and this show, Gary was sooo big on CdP, and I eventually became convinced it would be my favorite. Being in South Dakota, most liquor stores carry about 3 wines over $20 and there is no direct shipping allowed. I was dropping my wine knowledge a couple years ago at a dinner with a liquor store owner and he was impressed enough to allow me to pick the wine. Imagine my delight to see my first ever CdP in his cellar!…a B&G, ha! I was still convinced it would be great. It was not. I was mortified. I gave up on CdP until I was turned on to Cotes du Rhone by a french friend, which led me to other grenache-based wines and recently to a REAL CdP (I’ve found some retailers that WILL ship here)- which was everything Gary had talked it up to be!

Jets/Pats: Jets will win the first 3 quarters, but that doesn’t usually mean much against the Pats.

QOTD: Not yet, waiting to lose this cold, so I can get a worthy sniffy sniff.

I have some CNdP in my cellar, but I have not tried it yet. I plan on trying soon.
