Awesome- awesome – awesome show Gary! All content.
Sorry, I do not yet have a favorite Itallian wine.
    Question:
Is a 2008 white Burgundy too young to drink?
Super high acid to me. Decanting helped.

Love Dolcetto, thanks to you. Saw an old episode and tried some. Really a great value driven wine. Italian wine in general is where I tend to gravitate, and for my palate nothing beats the boldness, the intensity, and the complexity of Amarone. I have some 2004 which I dying to try, but will hold out.

Gary- very good show. Very focused, as you might say. Dolcetto can be awesome.

QOTD- for everyday, Montepulciano. For special times, Brunello. Cheers!

    QOTD: Pio Cesare 2003 Barolo.

I have an idea for a future show, so here it is: I’d love to see you do a blind tasting of wines that you have previously scored on wltv…That would be quite interesting! Much love, great show.

Brachetto d’Acqui… looking forward to the dolcetto, thanks

Classic format = classic episode. Love the little sweet one and enjoy a nice Nero but the big boy Barolo takes some beating.

I like Barolo, the better I can afford the better I like. I do like Dolcettos though and will have to give one of the two first ones.

QOTD: I don’t have a lot of experience with Italian wine, but so far my favorites have been Brunellos. I’ve always been a fan of sangiovese.

Thanks, G. Looked like solid pizza wines.

QOTD: I’m probably more on the Super Tuscan (or Tuscan wines in general) bandwagon. Mainly ’cause they can be found for prices that don’t scare me like the other big Italian wines and I like their versatility. I just had a Bibi Graetz wine that was really nice (Grilli del Testamatta) and not too bad on the wallet @ under 25.

Just getting into Italian wines, but I love the Nebbiolos from the Langhe. Looking forward to trying Barolos and Barberscos.

Love the show! Getting back into the wine, keeping it on track and yet relaxed. The best you have had in quite a few episodes.

  • Dolcetto D’Alba is one of my top 5 favorite Italian wines, the other four being Barolo, Brunello, Chianti and Amarone.

QOTD: hard question to answer, there are plenty of good Italian wines but if I had to pick one, Banfi Brunello.

Hey Brother, good to be back. Haven’t been lurking, just been away. Great
point you bring up about when a critic tastes/scores a wine in relation to
when we/you taste the wine. Wines, as u know, are funny creatures. They can
turn off/shut down for awhile then blossom again. If a critic is
tasting/scoring when its “on” and we buy/taste when its “off” then so much
for the score – it become meaningless.

QOTD: That’s like asking me my favorite Italian food but I’ll give u one of
my favs – Tunuta San Leonardo particularly the ’04. A massive
left bank Bordeaux like Super Tuscan.

Good show…glad to see you get excited over some wine. I have only a couple of Dolcetto, but really enjoyed them. Most recently had one from Ascheri that was quite nice.

Did I miss something…what happened to the taste along shows on Fridays?

QOTD: Favorite Italian red, though I haven’t had many, would have to be San Leonardo Vino Tavola 2001 (Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Merlot) from Trentino.
