Tonight I’m viewing while having a steak dinner and a glass of Almansa. I’ve watched your show from my truck, at work, friend’s homes while waiting to go out, on holidays and my parents home. Not the “John” yet as I don’t spend much time there.
Albarinos are excellent food wines and still are generally a good value. Don’t tell too many peeps.

Let me get this straight. You taste three wines in 13 minutes, minutes mostly made up of chatter. We have no idea how long the wines have been open. You taste them without food or friends. We have no idea of who the winemakers are. You say nothing about the wineries or vineyards. But you still believe you’re providing us with a lesson of how to properly taste. WTF? A moment’s sip tells us enough. And then you give the wine a number as stupid as Jay Miller’s. Only lower.

And this is wine education? This is how we ‘Crush It’? Your business philosophy boils down to the simple advice that ‘winners’ shout louder.

DANG! Ken P is one angry dude. Maybe you should have a glass of wine and settle down Ken. I don’t think this is so much about education (though I’ve learned a ton of cool facts about wine by watching) as it is about entertainment. It’s fun as hell to watch and listen to Gary evaluate wine, and if you don’t think so then just don’t watch the show. Don’t be the guy who shows up at the party and stands around talking about how lame it is. Just leave.

Thunderball, I’m not asking you to keep silent. I commented on GV’s show. You choose to make a nuisance of yourself by butting in.

Before you decide to celebrate all things Gary, sleep on it, (dave). Watch a few more of his shows. Get a feel for the guy. But at the end of the day, think for yourself.

Lastly, don’t you find it strange that you watch a guy who tells you to trust your own palate? I mean, weren’t you doing that before you ever found him?

KenP, everyone is entitled to an opinion. If you don’t like Gary then no problem. I have watched over 700 episodes of Gary’s show so I think I ‘have a feel for the guy’ as you said. I have also had several private correspondences with him, all of which have been polite and helpful. Gary tells people to trust their own palates, you’re telling me to think for myself…sounds kind of like the same thing doesn’t it?

Thanks Gary! You’ve reinvigorated my interest in Spanish whites. Sadly the La Cana is proving difficult to find in the UK.

The Jorge Ordonez show was one of my favorite episodes. I love Spanish wine and I appreciate his amazing career and passion.

Last night I sipped a Jorge Ordonez import. It was a 2007 Luzon Jumilla tinto (PA code 22406, $8.99). I’d give it an 88-89 on my palate. Great value.
