Good, tight episode, like the new shorter format

  • oh, not a good start… I don¡t know if you have tasted it, the 2008 Alta Vist Premium Torrontes in my opinion is not bad at all, here- http://bit.ly/4aj8Ee.

QOTD: I am looking to have a Vega-Sicilia Unico again (fall veggies go great with it), and something that was on the NY Times: Orange Wines, never had one and I am very curious about them.

qotd – I’m into rustic wines this time of year whether it be a dusty old barolo an inexpensive french country wine or anything in between. If it’s made well and has the stuff I’m a happy man.

Speaking of being a happy man, my Fins just drove the ball down the J-E-T-S throat to take a 7-0 lead.

    Cheers!

I was in an Argentinian wine taste here in mexico and tasted a torrontes (which name I can’t remember) but ohhhh was it gooood, it was like sticking your nose and tongue into an eden’s harvest hahaha. bautiful sweet peaches, melon, appricot, green apple, just awesome. It was from la rioja argentina.

QOTD: Big fat thick stinky Barolo (saving the bucks to buy a nice one)

Hi, Gary– Just wanted to thank you again for the great talk and tasting on Saturday, and for signing my copy of your book. Really hope you and Bob do well with it. Hope you do another talk at next year’s Food & Wine Festival; we will be there!

QOTD: I have a couple of bottles of that amazing Chat de St. Cosme gigondas you recommended, and I’ve got an 05 Opus One that I’m saving for my birthday next month. Give us some more big, meaty reds, Gary; we love ’em!

    Gary
you may have not tried enough torrontes to understand this grape. Maybe you should come to the roots and visit Argentina where you will have a very large selection of wines from this grape to taste and appreciate.

should you find Domingo Molina torrontes (same imery name), or Ciclos torrontes from El Esteco or Quara Reserva Torrontes from Lavaque, you should give them a try.
    It’s a complex grape I tell you
Come to Arg and taste them with us.
    cheers!

QOTD: Petite sirah. Its the season for light, fruity reds.

You really missed a bet not tasting Yellow + Blue Torrontes today.

Fabulous, flowery organic Torrontes for ten bucks a liter! My brother the beer drinker, who prefers really hoppy beers, ended up drinking it right out of the tetra-pak at our last family gathering. He’s not a wine drinker, but it brought some thunder to his palate that day.

This fall I’m hoping to find more Cananau. So far the best I’ve been able to find is Argiolas… but there has to be more out there!

I have found Torrontes a hit or miss wine myself. The Urban is very good, La Linda nice, Colome is intense and great. I have had some of Simonassi’s wines and I thought they were pretty good values.

QOTD: I drink red and white all year regardless of the weather, but I am excited to try more of my Sineann WOTMOCL Pinots in the next few months.

Rough start to the week! Ah, well.

QOTD: probably Bordeaux. Plus, it’s time to toss some good dark rum, spices and a little butter into fresh cider, simmer it and remember again why we like cooler weather…

Agree 100% about Torrontes lately. Had one a few months ago at a wine bar and it tasted like palmolive. Not at all pleasant.
